Best Buy wireless and Bluetooth speakers – great sound for every music genre.
Lidl Music Essentials: Bluetooth speakers
BOOMPODS Rokpod speaker, £12.99
If you’re looking for an affordable Bluetooth speaker that’s small enough to tuck inside a rucksack, the Rokpod might be on your radar.
This pebble-shaped shock and water-resistant wireless speaker comes with an integrated braided cable for hanging it, and the flat design reminds us of the pricier Ultimate Ears Roll 2 speaker. Lidl promises ‘impressive sound’ from the waterproof Rokpod, which is also said to offer up to five hours of playback on a single charge.
BOOMPODS Aquapod Speaker, £19.99
The durable Aquapod speaker costs around £20 while stocks last. It’s designed to serve up bass-heavy sound on the move, and the portable design means the Aquapod can be mounted on a bike, stuck to your shower wall or hung from a bag.
Like the Rokpod, this Bluetooth speaker is IPX7 rated – this means it can be immersed for up to thirty minutes at a depth of less than one meter. It can last up to five hours on a single charge.
How good are cheap Bluetooth speakers?
We’re continuously testing Bluetooth speakers from some of the biggest brands around – Bose, JBL, Samsung and Sony to name a few. But our rigorous expert tests suggest that buying a cheap Bluetooth speaker with impressive sound can be a tricky task.
As you can see from our infographic above, there’s no shortage of cheap, low-scoring Bluetooth speakers. If you’re looking for a budget-priced option, make sure you take a look at our reviews before parting with your cash. You’ll be saved from picking up a dreaded Don’t Buy that is tricky to set up and light on features.
Lidl Music Essentials: headphones
BOOMPODS Sportpods Race Wired Headphones, £6.99
The Sportpods are aimed at fitness fanatics on the hunt for some headphones that can survive a run in the rain. These waterproof ones are on sale for a tempting £6.99, with Lidl promising ‘maximum comfort’ thanks to an ergonomic earpiece.
Aldi Specialbuys: Maxtek headphones, £16.99
Lidl isn’t the only supermarket advertising cheap tech this week. As part of its latest Specialbuys promotion, Aldi is selling Maxtek wireless headphones for £16.99. They’re available for pre-order today, dispatching at the end of the week.
These Bluetooth headphones come in a choice of three colours – black, white and rose gold. Like Aldi’s Sportpods, they offer up to five hours of playback per charge, although these over-ear headphones don’t boast a waterproof design. Even so, they’re lightweight with cushioned ear pads and an adjustable headband.
How good are cheap headphones?
Performance from budget headphones is mixed. Although we’ve uncovered a selection that serve up decent audio, our listening panel have also had to endure models that score as low as 17% in our lab.
When it comes to testing headphones, only the best options around are worthy of Best Buy status. Best Buy headphones are delightfully comfy and produce crystal-clear sound that does your music collection justice.
