Wireless speakers from Ultimate Ears, LG and Sonos are already discounted, but is it worth holding off until the biggest shopping event of the year?
Below, we shine the spotlight on speakers that have been treated to price cuts since launch. But if you time your purchase right, you could save even more around Black Friday.
Black Friday advice – our experts will help you bag a bargain
Bluetooth speaker deals to look out for
Ultimate Ears Megablast
This waterproof Bluetooth speaker from Ultimate Ears costs a hefty £269.99 from the brand’s own website. You can use it to stream music from popular services including Spotify and Amazon Music.
But after digging around online for the Alexa-enabled Megablast, we’ve found significant reductions ahead of Black Friday. The Megablast is already down to £169 at Currys PC World and on Amazon. That’s a great deal – this Bluetooth speaker has rarely been priced that low over the past year.
You might decide to bite the bullet if you’re in a rush to nab a discounted speaker, but it’s worth keeping an eye out over the Black Friday period in case there are any further reductions on this model.
LG WK7 ThinQ Smart Speaker
The LG WK7 ThinQ is powered by Google Assistant, which means nattering to the black box can get you updates on the weather, traffic conditions and calendar events. It launched at £200 but currently sits at around £129 in most retailers, including Currys PC World, AO.com and Hughes.
That’s not a bad price, but we’ve seen this Bluetooth speaker drop as low as £90 in the past. If you spot the WK7 ThinQ hovering around this price come Black Friday, you’ll know you’re getting a decent deal.
Apple doesn’t really ‘do’ Black Friday, or deals in general, so it’s hardly surprising that the HomePod hasn’t been discounted. The sleek speaker, which puts a focus on audio quality over voice-assistant functionality, is currently £279 at Apple and major retailers.
Battling against Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers, Apple’s HomePod uses its shape to distribute tunes evenly around your home. Siri will deal with your voice commands, while built-in support for a multi-room setup means you can pair two HomePods together.
If you spot the Apple HomePod up for grabs at less than £279, know that you could potentially take advantage of a rare Apple deal.
Sonos One SL
Sonos products don’t tend to go down in price too often, but previous Black Fridays have seen some tasty savings. If you’re shopping for a smart speaker during the build-up to Christmas, this is an audio brand to keep an eye on.
The Sonos One SL is the successor to the Sonos Play:1 speaker. It chucks out room-filling sound from music-streaming favourites including Amazon Music, Apple Music and Deezer. Touch-sensitive controls on the top of the speaker let you skip tracks, or you can control the Sonos using the free-to-download Sonos Controller smartphone app.
It’s still early days for the Sonos One SL – the speaker only just launched in September. Since then, it has been on sale at a steady £179, so if you see it for less on Black Friday you might want to add it to your shortlist. Assuming it gets discounted at the end of November, we expect it won’t take long for the price to creep back up to £179.
Anker Soundcore Flare
Buyers on a budget might have their eyes on this Bluetooth speaker from Anker. The Anker Soundcore Flare is well suited to a party lifestyle, rocking coloured lights that pulse in time with your music. It’s protected by a waterproof shell, so it can survive being completely submerged in a metre of water for 30 minutes.
You’ll typically find the Anker Soundcore Flare at £70, although the speaker has seen the odd reduction since its launch. At the time of writing, Amazon is selling an exclusive gift set for a limited time that features the speaker, travel case and gift box for £50.
Keep an eye on this affordable Bluetooth speaker over Black Friday, but don’t dip into your wallet without consulting our expert review.

Sign up for alerts
We still have a couple of weeks to go until the big day. If there’s a specific product you’re on the hunt for, make the most of price alerts. Signing up for retailer newsletters and price-drop notifications can improve your chances on Black Friday.
Always compare prices across multiple retailers. A deal from one shop might seem tempting, but a quick Google search might uncover a better offer elsewhere.
Know your rights
Whether you’re buying in-store or online, your consumer rights have you covered if something goes wrong.
- Faulty products – The Consumer Rights Act protects you when making a purchase. If you’re dealing with a faulty product, you have 30 days in which to get your money back. After that, the retailer can offer a repair or replacement instead of a refund.
- Returning products – There’s nothing stopping you from returning a non-faulty product if the retailer has a returns policy in place. It’s good practice to check a shop’s return policy before parting with your money.
