Canon EOS 600D
The successor to the Canon EOS 550D, the 600D has 18Mp resolution, captures 1080p HD video and includes a vari-angle rotatable LCD screen to make taking shots overhead easier.
We tested it using the 18–55mm IS II lens. The camera is rather heavy at 830g and has a 28.8 to 88mm optical zoom range.
Canon EOS 1100D
The 1100D has a 12.2Mp resolution and is a step up from the previous Canon EOS 1000D model.
It’s aimed at first time digital SLR owners with a guide mode that takes new users through various functions on the camera on the camera’s screen. This means users don’t have to bury your head in a manual to get started.
The camera has an optical zoom range of 28.8 to 88mm, can shoot 720p HD video, includes a monitor and optical viewfinder and was tested using the 18-55mm IS II kit lens.
You can view the lab test results and read more about these cameras in our digital SLR and bridge camera reviews.
