Seven new Best Buy cordless phones revealed

Binatone, BT, Gigaset and Panasonic phones tested

We put 29 new cordless home phones through our gruelling lab tests to find out exactly how they cope in real life situations. We can reveal that seven have been awarded the coveted Best Buy logo.

Best Buy cordless phones under £35

We put popular brands such as Binatone, BT, Gigaset and Panasonic through their paces. Our tests uncovered seven new Best Buy home phones, including one good value model that costs just £30.

Call blocking cordless phones

Four of the new Best Buys come with built-in answering machines, one of which can record an hour of messages – more than four times the capacity of many non-Best Buys. All the Best Buys offer great sound quality on calls and long lasting batteries though a couple have fairly short ranges and so aren’t suitable for very large houses.

One of the most popular phone features over the last year has been the ability to block nuisance calls and four of the seven Best Buys can do this.

We also tested over 20 other phones than didn’t make the Best Buy grade. These include the most expensive home phone we’ve ever reviewed plus four stylish devices that look great but which disappointed in our tests. We also uncovered a Don’t Buy phone that’s cheap but which should still be avoided.

How we test cordless phones

We buy and test around 50 phones a year including those with answer machines, multiple handsets and advanced features such as call blocking and text messaging.

We put every phone through the same tests – a mixture of hands on assessments and technical lab measurements. This means that we can tell you which you should buy – and which you should avoid.

Each review contains a verdict to let you know whether or not the phone is worth spending your cash on. And because each phone is tested in the same way, you can directly compare how each one performs.
