Best Apple iPhone 16 deals

Apple iPhone 16

The Apple iPhone 16 is the latest handset from smartphone giant – with the full range including the iPhone 16 Plus with a bigger screen, the 16 Pro and Pro Max with the most premium cameras, and the cheaper 16e.

Apple claims 'a huge leap in battery life', more powerful processers, and the toughest smartphone glass on the latest handsets, but the main upgrade is the launch of Apple Intelligence – AI technology to make your life easier, and the new Camera Control button that launches different camera tools instantly depending on how you press it.

We like: New camera control button

We don’t like: We're still waiting for that AI upgrade

We like the iPhone 16's new Camera Control button, extra shooting modes, and its better processor, but many might consider there's not quite enough new here to justify an upgrade over the iPhone 15.

How much is the latest iPhone compared to older models?

iPhones are typically expensive and it's unusual to see significant discounts on the latest iPhones soon after launch. The good news is you can make savings with predecessors, many of which have plenty of life left thanks to Apple's long support periods. For example, while the iPhone 16 launched at the same price as the iPhone 15, the latter has been on sale for over £100 less. Check below to see how much you could save on an iPhone 15 or earlier.

Best Apple iPhone 15 deals

Even though the iPhone 16 series has been released, the iPhone 15 prices haven't dropped. However, for a good few months, the devices have been cheaper than their launch prices (by £100 or so).

Find out if the Pro is worth the extra cash in our guide to the iPhone 15 vs 15 Pro.

Apple iPhone 15

*Average price in the past six months: £680. Cheapest price in the past six months: £549

Apple iPhone 15
  • 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 2,556 x 1,179 resolution
  • A16 Bionic Chip
  • Estimated minimum of six years of security updates from launch

We like: Enhanced camera modes

We don’t like: No major upgrades from the iPhone 14

Typical series enhancements on this phone include a brighter display and thinner bezels in comparison to the previous iPhone 14. This was the first iPhone to receive a USB-C port to replace the Apple Lightning connection, so any USB-C charger can power the device.

Inside is a high-spec processor and 3,349 mAh battery. The camera software benefits from an upgraded night mode and more editing options.

iPhone 15 Plus

* Average price in the past six months: £792. Cheapest price in the past six months: £649

Best Apple iPhone 14 deals

With the release of the iPhone 15, you can find some attractive discounts on the Apple iPhone 14 and other models in the series.

Apple iPhone 14

*Average price in the past six months: £584. Cheapest price in the past six months: £494

  • 6.1-inch (2,532 x 1,170) Super Retina XDR display
  • Dual-camera system with a larger sensor
  • Estimated minimum of six years of security updates from launch

We like: Camera upgrades

We don’t like: No Dynamic Island notch on the display

The Apple iPhone 14 from 2022 has dropped in price at a number of retailers. It's the standard model in the 14 range, and the cheapest, but it has a number of premium perks. The processor, named the A15 Bionic chip, is the same as in the iPhone 13, but it received an upgraded five-core GPU and 6GB of memory. The front-facing camera has powerful autofocus, making it smarter at focusing in pictures.

It comes in five different colours, and with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of memory. Cinematic mode records in 4K, but the cameras aren't as advanced as on the iPhone 14 Pro.

To find out if it lives up to expectations, check out our iPhone 14 review. Check contract deals and prices from retailers below.

How to spot a good deal on an iPhone

Amy Axworthy, Which? mobile phones expert, says:

Amy Axworthy
  • iPhone deals are scarce and you're likely to get the best offers by choosing an iPhone that's not in the latest range. If you do find a discount on a recent iPhone, consider it a good deal if you're getting around 20% off.
  • Avoid buying an iPhone that's likely to lose its security updates soon. Sometimes, phones can look like they're a great deal, but a much older model might be at risk of losing important security updates fairly soon after you buy it. Security updates and patches are important to keep your data safe. We only recommend deals on iPhones (see above) that we estimate have at least two years of security patches remaining.
  • Decide what's most important to you in your new phone. Cameras generally account for the biggest expense, but you might find that the priciest camera features aren't important to you. Check out our Apple iPhone reviews to explore all there is to offer.

Best second-hand iPhone deals

Before buying an iPhone, consider looking at the second-hand and refurbished market, as this is often where the best savings can be found. iPhones dominate this market, which means prices are competitive.

When buying second-hand, double-check the phone is still supported with security updates. If it's no longer supported, your phone is at risk of hackers exploiting vulnerabilities in its software. Some second-hand retailers, such as MusicMagpie, will warn you in the specifications if a phone no longer has security support – but many won't. Use the Which? phone support calculator to find out how long you can expect to get support.

Second-hand phones are sold with a grade according to condition. Our research shows a grade B (or equivalent 'good') will generally get you the best deal, balancing price with the quality of features.

Our pick: Apple iPhone 14 (original price £799, now around £335 second-hand)

Apple iPhone 14

Since the release of the iPhone 16 in September 2024, the iPhone 14 series from 2022 is seeing some major discounts in the second-hand market. It doesn't have the advanced cameras of an iPhone Pro, but it doesn't scrimp on specs: you'll get Apple's A15 Bionic Chip, a striking display and clever camera modes. We expect Apple to support it with regular security updates until at least September 2028.

We've seen it on sale for around £335 in 'good' second-hand condition at MusicMagpie. Find out the full story in our Apple iPhone 14 review.

Also consider these popular phones that can now be found cheaper at multiple second-hand retailers:

  • Apple iPhone 12 (original price £799, now £185 second-hand) More and more iPhone 12s are appearing in the second-hand market. You should find them for £150 to £320, depending on the phone's condition. The cheapest one we found in 'good' or grade B condition was at iOutlet for around £185.
  • Apple iPhone 13 Pro (original price £1,149, now £400 second-hand) The iPhone 13 Pro has the most premium cameras on the 13 series. It currently goes for a lot less than half its original price in 'Grade B' second-hand condition. We've seen it on sale for around £400 at CeX.

How to get the most money for an old iPhone

If you're about to buy a new iPhone, there are some simple ways to get cash for your old one.

  • Apple Trade In Apple takes your device and swaps it for credit towards your next purchase or offers you an Apple gift card. If your device isn't eligible (perhaps it's damaged beyond repair), Apple will recycle it for you. The Apple Trade In website has a list of price estimates for iPhone models. You can trade in the iPhone 12 for up to an estimated £235 and the iPhone 13 for £360. You can return your old device using a pre-paid trade-in kit that Apple sends, or take it to an Apple store.
  • Third-party sellers If you want cash instead of credit, consider trading in your old iPhone to a third-party seller. MusicMagpie offers up to £180 for an iPhone 12 (64GB, unlocked) and £245 for an iPhone 13 (128GB, unlocked). CeX offers up to £191 for an iPhone 12 and £227 for an iPhone 13.
  • Mobile phone providers trade-in You can also trade in your phone to mobile phone providers such as O2, Vodafone, EE and Three. They either offer credit towards your next purchase or cash. O2 currently offers up to £135 for the iPhone 12 (64GB) and up to £176.75 for the iPhone 13 (128GB). Three offers up to £135 for the iPhone 12 (64GB) and up to £176 for the iPhone 13 (128GB).
  • Recycling comparison websites Some websites such as Compare and recycle and Sellmymobile.com will compare offers for your phone to help you find the best deal. Your phone is then sent off to your chosen recycler. On these websites, the iPhone 12 (64GB, unlocked) is going for around £200, and the iPhone 13 (128GB) for around £270.
  • eBay You're likely to get the most money by selling your old phone independently through an online marketplace such as eBay, though this requires more effort on your part to manage the sale and delivery. The iPhone 12 (64GB) seems to be selling for £200 to £350, and the iPhone 13 (128GB) for £350 to £450.

Before parting ways with your old phone, back up your phone's data or transfer it to your new phone so you don't lose anything. Then erase your data by performing a 'factory reset', which can be found in your phone's Settings.
