At the moment, Firmus Energy is the only company that supplies domestic gas customers in the Ten Towns area. In the Greater Belfast area, customers have a choice between Firmus Energy and SSE Airtricity for their gas supply.
Firmus Energy claims its gas is safe, cheaper, practical and environmentally friendly. It also owns and builds its own infrastructure.
Since it launched in 2005, Firmus has built gas networks in more than 30 cities, towns and villages, and connected more than 95,000 customers.

Firmus Energy ranks first place in our annual survey of six of Northern Ireland's electricity and gas suppliers. Last year it was joint-fourth, alongside SSE Airtricity Gas.

Which? verdict on Firmus Energy
Firmus Energy has secured first place in this year's survey.
It received three stars out of five for value for money. Although other providers also got three stars, a number of customers had positive comments about this area.
Firmus Energy reduced its natural gas tariffs in the Greater Belfast network area by 12% in March 2020. This follows on from an earlier price drop in October 2019 of 8.77%.
Customer service, dealing with complaints and bill clarity also received a three star rating.
While Firmus Energy customers were most happy with its bill accuracy, scoring an impressive four out of a potential five stars.
Pros: Your gas bills are likely to be very accurate
Cons: It supplies gas only, so you’ll need another supplier for electricity

Firmus Energy in 2020
Firmus Energy reduced its natural gas tariffs in the Greater Belfast network area by 12% in March 2020 and by 12.48% across its Ten Towns network.
Firmus Energy in 2019
Firmus Energy announced a drop of 8.77% to its natural gas tariffs for both the Ten Towns area and Greater Belfast. Firmus also announced a £10.3m construction program across Northern Ireland to extend the network further.
Firmus Energy in 2018
Firmus Energy announced a 12% price increase for customers in the Ten Towns areas and Greater Belfast. The hike added around £39 a year to the average customer's bill.
Part of the reason for the increase was said to be down to the rise in international energy costs.
