Admiral car breakdown review

Our car breakdown survey reveals how people rated their cover from Aviva for wait times, callout outcome and customer service
Jack MurphySenior market analyst

Jack has been thoroughly analysing a wide range of new service areas at Which? for over three years. In that time, the markets he's covered have included gyms, wine clubs and car breakdown providers amongst others.

While major insurer Admiral isn’t primarily known for standalone breakdown policies compared to dedicated giants like The AA or RAC, how does it stack up against the market? Our latest customer survey reveals how Admiral Breakdown Cover customers rate their service.

Each year, we survey thousands of UK drivers (including Which? members and the general public) who have called out a breakdown service in the past year to check how they rate their providers on wait times, the outcome of on-the-spot repairs, value for money, and overall customer satisfaction.

  • have an overall score of at least 70%
  • have a customer score of at least 70%
  • score at least three stars in all areas rated in our customer satisfaction survey.

The best-performing providers that meet the above criteria were then deemed Which? Recommended Providers.

We rank breakdown providers by their overall score. The overall score is made up of:

  • 50% customer score
  • 30% wait time score
  • 20% outcome score

All ratings are based on the survey responses of more than 8,000 people who experienced a breakdown in the 12 months prior to our survey.
The customer score reflects how satisfied customers say they are with their provider and how likely they would be to recommend it. Providers must have a minimum sample size of 40 to be given a customer score.
