ITVX: ITV’s catch-up TV service

Missed the latest episode of The Masked Singer or I'm a Celebrity...? Or maybe you fancy streaming The Chase or Coronation Street on the go.
If so, you'll want to turn to ITVX - it's the one-stop shop for getting ITV programmes and channels on demand. ITVX also now includes Britbox in the UK, the streaming service launched to showcase the best of British television and box sets.
Many people use the web version of ITVX, which is available online using most of the popular browsers, however it's also available as an app for both Apple and Android phones.
How to get ITVX
ITVX is available in a range of ways. Samsung smart TVs (2017 or later models) and LG smart TVs (2016 or later) have a dedicated app. Alternatively, if you're subscriber to Sky, Virgin Media, BT or TalkTalk's television and broadband service, you can access ITV's catch-up service through your set-top box.
If you don't have a compatible TV or pay-TV service, other options include Freeview, YouView and Freesat boxes, Apple TV, or devices like the Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV stick.
Is ITVX free?
ITVX is free to watch in the UK supported with ads. However, there is an ad-free paid subscription – ITVX Premium – that also allows access to Britbox UK. This costs £5.99 per month, or £59.99 per year.
What is ITVX premium?
ITVX Premium includes hundreds of additional films and shows that are exclusive to the premium tier. It also includes the entire BritBox catalogue with films and series from StudioCanal, and you can download programmes to watch on the go. Importantly, the service is also ad-free.
What can I watch on ITVX?
ITV catch up
Whether you love Britain's Got Talent or The 1% Club, you'll never miss your favourite show again. You can use ITVX to catch up on ITV programming after it was originally broadcast. You will need to set up an account before you can play the content - and be aware that all shows will contain adverts (just as they would do if you were watching them live).
ITV live
You can also stream live ITV channels, including ITV, ITV 2, ITV 3, ITV 4 and ITV Be. On the ‘Live TV' page, you'll see what's on all ITV channels at that moment - just click the play icon to start watching. Every time you start a live stream, you will be shown a series of adverts, regardless of whether the programme is at an ad break. Also, to stream live TV you'll need a valid TV licence – find out more about the TV licence.
Can I download shows from ITVX?
Users of the standard ITVX are unable to download shows. For that privilege, you'll need to subscribe to ITVX Premium for £5.99 a month. Paying for this enhanced service means you can watch (mostly) ad-free content, as well as download shows to watch later on your iOS device (iOS 14 and above). ITVX works on desktop computers, Apple devices and smart TVs.
ITVX tips and tricks
Finding something to watch
You can look for programmes you want to watch by selecting your favourite categories. Or if you have a specific show in mind you can navigate to it using the A-Z list of available programmes. There's also a search bar which lets you enter a look for a programme, person or keyword.
ITVX tech tips
The quality of video streaming will depend on your broadband speed – we'd advise you to have at least 2Mbps to use it. Make sure you have the latest version of Flash player installed on your computer, too, and ensure your browser is upgraded to the latest version to get the best possible experience. More support is available online at ITVX Help.
