The fridge has three shelves (none of which are adjustable). There’s also a bottle shelf and two drawers at the base. The lowest drawer is for fruit and vegetables – you can adjust the humidity to suit the contents. It also has a super-cool function that should be useful when you put in lots of shopping.

The Kenwood KNF55XD23 is a frost-free fridge freezer, with a fast chill function and adjustable shelves for accommodating larger items

Functions include fast freeze and fast chill. The doors can be hinged on the right or left, whatever suits your kitchen layout best. It’s a frost-free fridge freezer, as most (but not all) are these days, so you should never have to defrost it yourself.

The fridge section has three shelves and a salad crisper drawer, and the freezer has four drawers.

This integrated fridge freezer is designed to sit behind a panel or door that matches your kitchen decor. The door can be reversed to help it fit into your floorplan. Wi-fi connectivity enables compatibility with the ConnectLife app, which means it can be incorporated into a smart home environment.

We were able to fit a total of nine carrier bags of food inside, so it hasn't the biggest capacity, but it's a very quiet model, so noise won't be an issue – good to know if you work at the kitchen table.

Liebherr ICBNE 5123

This Liebherr is a smaller-sized integrated fridge freezer that’s frost-free, with doors that can be reversed to help it fit into your kitchen’s floorplan.

We were able to fit nine carrier bags of food inside and found that several of the fridge shelves and door racks can be adjusted to help accommodate your shopping.

It runs very quietly, so it shouldn't disturb you if your kitchen table doubles up as your office desk.

AEG TSC7M181DS

This is an integrated fridge freezer is towards the higher end of the AEG range. Interchangeable door hinging gives you the flexibility to have a left or right-side opening door, based on your kitchen layout.

There’s a 75/25 split between the fridge and freezer and the whole appliance can fit eight bags of shopping in total, so it’s best suited for smaller households.

It has four glass shelves, including a removable half-shelf for storing bottles, a bottle shelf with a stop, a half-width and three full-width door racks, a chiller drawer and a vegetable drawer in the fridge. There are three more drawers in the freezer below.

Haier HCR3818EWMM

If you have the space and budget for an American-style fridge freezer, this model is currently cheaper than average at Costco. It's a spacious multi-door model with a modern design where the fridge and freezer sections are positioned one on top of the other, instead of side-by-side. It's designed to handle large shops, accommodating up to the equivalent of 16 bags of groceries.

It includes super-cool and fast-freeze functions, perfect for quickly lowering the internal temperature after you've added a significant amount of new food.

The fridge section contains three shelves (one is adjustable) and two dedicated crisper compartments for fresh produce. The bottom freezer section has six drawers.

Smeg FQI60KD

You're opting for luxury when you go for this American-style appliance, but you can still get up to £300 off the high street price when you shop around online.

The space is split 67/33 between the fridge and freezer. The fridge offers three shelves, two half-width drawers and one full-width drawer, and each door has three full-width racks. Each side of the freezer has three drawers, but the right-hand freezer compartment is multizone, so it can be used as a freezer or a fridge, depending on your requirements.

It has an external display with quick access to information and the controls.

Beko’s range of lower-priced fridge freezers is widely available on the high street and online from stockists, including AO.com, Currys and John Lewis. You can’t buy direct from the brand's own website currently, but if you buy a Beko model elsewhere and register your purchase on the Beko website within 90 days, you can extend the standard one-year guarantee to two years.
