New Bugaboo travel systems compared: Fox2 vs Donkey3

The latest updates to popular Bugaboo pushchairs are being released this month and we were able to get our hands on them for a first look try out.
The Bugaboo Fox2 (RRP £979) and Donkey3 (RRP £1,039) are updates to previous versions of these popular travel systems.
Spending lots of money on a pushchair is no guarantee that you'll get something great - we've found expensive travel systems that can't survive our tough structural and durability testing, and bargain travel systems that are a dream to push, strong and durable and that our panel of parents and experts love.
Read our travel system reviews to find out which are the best we've tested.
Bugaboo Fox2

The Fox2 is travel-system-compatible pushchair that's suitable to use from birth if you use it with the Bugaboo carrycot.
The seat unit is a bucket-style seat and doesn't lie flat, so it should be used when your baby reaches six months until he or she weighs 22kg, which is around the age of four or five.
Bugaboo has confirmed it's updated this latest model with lighter wheels for easier pushing and improved the fold. We agree that pushing and steering the Fox2 was a dream when we took it for a quick spin outside.
Read our full review of the Bugaboo Fox2 to find out if we can say the same for the fold.
Bugaboo Donkey3

The Donkey3 is a travel system pushchair with an expandable chassis that provides space for attaching a second seat, carrycot or car seat in a side-by-side format. This single-to-double option means parents can use it for both their newborn and their toddler.
The Donkey3 has a higher weight limit for the seats than the previous version - this one can carry children weighing up to 22kg, which is around four or five years old.
The handlebar grip has been updated in this model - find out if we felt this change made it more comfortable to push by reading our First Look review of the Bugaboo Donkey3.
How to buy the best travel system
A travel system is a pushchair that can be used with a baby car seat, with some also taking a carrycot as well.
Being able to transport a sleeping baby from the car to a pushchair without disturbing them can make life much easier.
Here are some tips to consider when buying a travel system
- Remember, you shouldn't leave a very young baby in a car seat for too long in one sitting. This includes when you've transferred the car seat from the vehicle to the pushchair chassis.
- Some travel systems come with a car seat included as part of a package. Remember to check if that car seat is on our list of tested Don't Buys. We would recommend always choosing your car seat first before you buy your travel system.
- Check if the travel system requires additional car seat adaptors, and if they're included in the cost of the package.
- Can it be converted from a single to a double pushchair? This can help if you have a growing family.
- Look out for other useful features such as a reversible seat, raincover, large basket and adjustable handles.
