Baxi is an East Midlands-based boiler brand. It was founded in 1866 by iron moulder Richard Baxendale and his partner Joseph Heald. It's now part of BDR Thermea, which also includes the boiler brands Potterton and Main, and is one of the largest boiler manufacturers in Europe.
Keep reading to find out more about Baxi boilers, including what Baxi customers and trusted heating engineers really think of the Baxi brand.
Baxi offers several ranges of combi boilers, including Baxi EcoBlue Plus Combi, Baxi EcoBlue Advance Combi, Baxi Duo-tec, Baxi Platinum, Baxi 200 Combi, Baxi 400 Combi and Baxi 600 Combi. Outputs range from 24kW to 40kW, delivering flow rates up to 16.4 litres a minute.
For homes with hot water storage cylinders and a cold water tank in the loft, Baxi’s range of heat only, or regular, boilers include the EcoBlue Heat, EcoBlue Advance Heat, Baxi 200 and Baxi 400 Heat. Outputs range from 12kW to 30kW, so there is a model for every size of home, even larger properties with a higher demand for hot water.
For homes with more than one bathroom or that require more hot water than can be provided by a combi boiler, then a system boiler could be the best choice. A system boiler pumps hot water to the radiators and a sealed hot water storage cylinder. Most of the major components of the heating and hot water system, including the pump and expansion vessel, are built into the boiler, making installation easier and tidier. Baxi has two ranges of system boiler, Baxi Megaflo System and Baxi EcoBlue System, with outputs from 12kW to 32kW.

Baxi does not sell boilers direct to consumers. They are supplied to Gas Safe-registered installers through plumbing and heating merchants. Baxi boilers cost from approximately £570 to £2,172, depending on type and output. The cost of installation will vary from home to home and depends on the amount of work the installer needs to do to complete the installation to Building Regulations standards.
Most Baxi boilers come with a two-year warranty, but limited-time offers of up to 10 years are available. For warranties to be valid boilers must be registered within 30 days of installation and the installer must complete the Benchmark Commissioning Checklist and give it to the householder when handing over the boiler. The boiler must also have an annual service.
