Open Banking and Banktivity

Banktivity can link to your bank account to import data, but you may be taking a risk if you agree to do this.

You will have to hand over your login details and give it permission to collect your transaction data – essentially allowing it to pose as you to access your accounts. If money goes missing or your details are used improperly, you may not have recourse to your bank’s fraud protection.

Banktivity is not set up for the Open Banking scheme, which would allow you to share current account data via a secure application programming interface (API) without handing over your login details. Firms using Open Banking are regulated, and security protocols protect your data.

Banktivity allows you to manually input information, which may be a safer option than giving the firm access to your accounts.
