Trio of Best Buy dishwashers uncovered by latest Which? lab test

Miele, Neff, Hotpoint and Kenwood machines tested

The Miele G6160 SCVi comes with Perfect Glassware for a gentler wash

Our latest dishwasher group test has uncovered three Best Buy dishwashers that have proven they’ve got what it takes to tackle even the toughest baked-on food to leave dishes sparkling, dry and streak-free.

We tested and reviewed six models including full-sized integrated dishwashers from Miele, Neff and Hotpoint, plus a slimline model from Beko. These join more than 120 other on our site. Log in now to find out which have earned our Best Buy dishwasher recommendation.

Cheap dishwashers vs pricier models

The dishwashers on test range from a budget-friendly £219 right up to more than £1000.

At the top of this range the Miele G6160 SCVi dishwasher is priced at an eye-watering £1,199. It’s a full-sized built-in dishwasher that can hold 140 items – that’s the washing up from dinner for 14.

For the price you get some smart additional features including ‘Perfect Glassware’, which Miele claims monitors and adjusts water hardness to provide a gentler clean for glasses. It also has a sensor inside that Miele says can detect how dirty a load is and adjust the amount of water and detergent used accordingly.

We tested it out on a full load of filthy dishes to see if its smarter features really do mean cleaner dishes. Find out how it got on in our full Miele G6160 SCVi dishwasher review.

We test dishwashers on tough baked-on stains including spinach, egg and milk, as well as measuring how much energy they guzzle.

Cheap Beko dishwasher

Meanwhile, the Beko DSFS 6831 W dishwasher is at the other end of the budget scale at £239. This cheap freestanding dishwasher from Beko has a generous capacity for a slimline model – you’ll be able to squeeze in 100 items.

Beko says it should also prove cheap to run, promising energy savings that equate to about £18 every year.

Which? dishwasher expert Yvette Fletcher said: ‘We test dishwashers on tough baked-on stains including spinach, egg and milk, as well as measuring how much energy they use.

‘We know from our extensive testing that slimline dishwashers tend to do worse overall. So we set a higher benchmark for full-sized dishwashers to become Best Buys’.
