It’s been a great start to 2018 in our ovens test lab – our latest results have revealed seven new Best Buy models.
We tested 15 new ovens, with models from all the big brands – including three from Beko, four from Zanussi, a smart oven from Bosch and a spacious single oven from Miele.
The top scorer achieved an impressive 81%, putting it up into the very top ranks of Best Buy ovens. That means it will heat up quickly and stick closely to the temperature you set on the dial.
We’ve reviewed more than 150 ovens – head to our detailed built-in oven reviews to see how they compare.
How much should I pay for an oven?
Oven prices vary a lot – our most recent tests included a simple single oven costing less than £150 from budget brand New World, and a high-tech offering from Bosch with a list price of more than £1,000.
While you can find Best Buys on a budget, higher price brackets provide plenty of choice, as well as extra functions. The average cost of a single oven in our top 10 Best Buys is a little over £700, which suggests that you do get better results if you pay more.
Smart functionality in the pricey Bosch HBG656RB6B gives you control of your oven via your smart device. It has 13 settings, several automatic cooking programs, a meat probe and a pleasing soft-close door. Read our Bosch HBG656RB6B oven review to find out how it performed in our tests.
A high price doesn’t guarantee a Best Buy performance, however, and there are bargains to be had. We’ve found decent ovens – and even the occasional Best Buy – that won’t set you back more than £350. Head to our Best Buy ovens page to see which budget models come out on top in our tests.
Should you buy a Zanussi oven?
This time round, we tested a clutch of ovens from Zanussi – including two singles and two doubles.
We’ve tested many Zanussi ovens over the years, revealing a healthy test score average of 72%, including a handful of Best Buys.

Are there any great double ovens?
Over the years, we’ve struggled to track down any top-scoring double ovens, and they’re often let down by the performance of one or more of their many elements.
Of the four double ovens we tested this time round, from Beko, John Lewis and Zanussi, we were pleased to uncover one Best Buy – read our reviews to find out which it was.
