Only the best ISPs become Which? Recommended Broadband Providers

If you want to be sure to get broadband that delivers on quality of service, go for a Which? Recommended Broadband Provider, as rated by you, our members, in our unique survey of home broadband users.

Our broadband recommendations are based on the real-life experiences of thousands of broadband customers. We ask our members about their broadband provider every six months, so you can be sure our broadband recommendations are reliable and up to date.

Some broadband providers have a terrible reputation with their customers, and if you're tying yourself in to a long contract you want to be sure of a top-notch service.

In our latest survey six home broadband providers impressed their customers enough to make it as Which? Recommended Broadband Provider, scoring highly for connection speed and reliability, customer service and overall satisfaction. We've given an overview of each provider in the table below.

  • Orange
  • AOL Broadband

Orange's customers rated it below average for connection speed, customer service and technical support. AOL Broadband received a very poor overall customer satisfaction score of 28%, it was also rated only one star our of five for its customer service.

Which? broadband satisfaction research

Nearly 12,000 Which? members with home broadband responded to our latest online survey, carried out in November 2011.

Overall we rated 17 broadband providers for ease of set-up, connection speed and reliability, value for money, customer service and telephone and online support. You can see a full breakdown of how each did in each area by using the Which? compare products feature.

Which? customer score

Our customer scores are based on how members rate their broadband provider for overall satisfaction, and how likely they are to recommend their ISP to a friend. These two elements are then combined to give the customer score.

The star ratings for individual satisfaction elements (see compare features & prices – Which? ratings) are based on how each provider does for this aspect in comparison to other providers.
