The ‘fastest 9kg washing machine on the market’ can wash a full load of washing in just 39 minutes, according to its maker Beko.

A 9kg washing machine is larger than the average 6-7kg drum capacity you get with most standard . Beko claims this ‘Excellence’ model can wash a full 9kg load of lightly soiled laundry at a range of temperatures (from cold to 90°C) in only 39 minutes.

Other wash settings on the Beko washing machine include a 14 minute ‘Super Fast’ program, a ‘tub clean’ program to use without laundry to clean your appliance, as well as an energy saving ‘Eco Clean’ wash.

Washing machine speed

Is it possible to get great cleaning at great speed from a washing machine? What’s clear from our washing machine testing is that program times can vary hugely between machines – anything from 45 minutes to more than three hours for the commonly-used 40°C cotton and easy-care programs.

Which? washing machines expert Vivienne Fitzroy says: ‘Our tests show that few machines clean, rinse and spin a full load of cottons thoroughly in less than two hours. But a well-designed washer can combine great cleaning with decent program times, even on larger loads.

‘We recently put Beko’s ‘fastest washing machine in the world’ – the 8kg WMD78144 Xpress – through its paces in the Which? lab. Read our full washing machine review to find out how it fared.’

Beko says the WMB91242L Excellence washing machine, available in white or gloss black, comes with extra large chrome porthole and drum ‘for easy loading and unloading’, large LCD display and A++ energy rating.

We’ll be fully lab testing this model in the next few months.

It’s on sale now, with prices starting at £369. Visit the  for information and details of local stockists.
