New pushchair offers mix-and-match colour options

Mothercare has unveiled its new Movix travel system pushchair, which allows parents to choose accessory packs leading to 50 possible colour combinations.

The pushchair features a reversible seat and a carrycot base that doubles as a pram body (suitable for occasional overnight sleeping). It is compatible with the Maxi-Cosi infant car seat.

Three steps to your Movix pushchair

Parents will be able to personalise their Movix pushchair by choosing:

  • a ‘base pack’ consisting of the chassis and carry cot (available in black or cream)
  • a ‘necessity pack’ consisting of carry cot apron, hood, seat pad, harness pads and weathershield
  • a ‘comfort pack’ with a footmuff and changing bag

Both the necessity and comfort packs are available in a range of colours, and it’s possible to create 50 different colour combinations depending on the colours you choose.

Mix-and-match pushchairs in vogue

Which? pushchair expert Victoria Pearson says: ‘The idea of offering packs of accessories to change the colour of your pushchair started with high-end brands such as Bugaboo and iCandy, but is becoming increasingly common with mainstream brands. Most pushchairs include a hood and raincover as standard.

‘It’s nice to be able to choose a pushchair that reflects your personality, but we think that how a pushchair helps you get about easily with your baby is far more important.

‘That’s why we always use the black or plainest version of a pushchair in our extensive tests, so that the fabric colour does not influence the members of our testing panel.’

Mothercare Movix price and availability

The Movix will be available to pre-order from Mothercare in February 2012 and will be in-store and online from March 2012.

The complete Movix package costs £570. An optional Maxi-Cosi car seat will cost £130 extra.
