This is a fantastic gift if your dad is looking for some new walks or hikes. You could go for a generic run-of-the-mill shirt, or you could showcase an art style found nowhere else in the world – your kid's.

A Scottish author once recommended it, and I've bought it for my dad ever since. I buy it on offer and then stash it so I can gift it later. He doesn't drink much, so this is a special occasion tipple for him.
We like: Classic Islay single malt
Watch out for: Not everyone likes a peaty flavour
Scotch whisky is a classic gift, and Laphroaig is among the most popular distillers in the UK. It's tasty enjoyed neat (straight up) or with a few chunks of ice.
Claimed tasting notes include seaweed and iodine, with a hint of salt and sweetness. Just know that Scotch tends to have a 'peaty' flavour, which might not be everyone's favourite.

The most advanced fitness trackers can go for well over £100, but you can get a solid device for half this price. Avoid anything super cheap; we’ve previously tested fitness trackers for as little as £2 that failed our privacy and security tests. Many fitness trackers can measure over 100 sports nowadays, so make sure your new one can track your favourites.
We like: Can be used without a phone
We don’t like: No NFC for contactless payments
This fitness tracker costs significantly less than other similarly-specced models. It has a 1.74-inch AMOLED display, a heart-rate tracker, SPO2 measurement, and can even track his sleep. He'll be able to track more than 150 sports modes, including those like running, yoga, and cycling.
It features built-in dual-band GNSS (which is essentially GPS), allowing him to track his outdoor activities without needing to bring along a phone. Xiaomi claims that the battery can last up to 14 days, although you'll have to read our full review to see if these claims hold up.

Best Christmas gifts for dads under £100
Ryobi R18PD3 18V Cordless Combi Drill
If your dad's (finally) going to fix those shelves they've been talking about fixing since last Father's Day - this drill is a solid tool to add to the box. It has a simple toggle switch to change settings, and with 24 torque settings it's very easy to control when sinking short and long screws.
We like: Affordable and lots of functionality
Watch out for: Batteries not always included
If you've got a long list of DIY jobs for dad to do, a new cordless drill will help make them a lot easier.
This model from Ryobi won't break the bank – you can typically get the tool for less than £80, although batteries will cost you a little more. It also has several functions, including drilling, hammer-drilling and screwdriver settings, and the battery can be swapped with other Ryobi ONE+ tools.

Braun Series 5 Electric shaver
Some beard trimmers come with many accessories and can feel a bit complex, even overengineered given the task is just cutting hair. Not the Braun Series 5. Its wheel for adjusting the cutting length is easy to use and the trim guards are easy to pop on and off.

A good foil shaver can be a lot more convenient to use than razors and wet shaving cream when it comes to keeping groomed.

I picked up a KVM switch to easily use my work and personal computers with the same monitors, mouse and keyboard. It might seem like a bizarre gift, but it's easily one of the most handy pieces of kit I've gotten in a long time. It's a WFH essential.
We like: Swapping computers with the push of a button
Watch out for: Initial setup is a bit finicky
It's not the most conventional gift, but this unassuming box lets you connect your computers to the same peripherals, such as a keyboard, webcam or mouse. It's incredibly handy if dad wants to use his monitors to work from home, but hates having to unplug cables to move to his personal computer.

We like: Wide variety of styles
Watch out for: Not the cheapest
A good pair of sunglasses will protect his eyes from the sun, make him look stylish and should last him years. Our experts were big fans of the sunglasses from Cubitts.

Touch controls on the stems let him control noise cancellation, track selection, or he can pause whatever he's listening to without having to fish in his pockets for his phone. Sadly, if he's an Android user, while they'll still work they won't have as many features as with an iPhone.
