The new Shark Sonic Duo floor cleaner claims that its sonic vibrations will leave your hard floors gleaming and your carpets grime-free. We asked one of our researchers to try it out at home and give her verdict on whether this Shark floor cleaner lives up to its promises – and the £180 price tag.
The Shark Sonic Duo combines a cleaning spray with a ‘sonic’ floorhead and detachable cloths for different floor types. Shark claims the near-1000 vibrations a minute of the sonic floorhead work to scrub the floor, helping to shift dirt and grime.

Shark Sonic Duo cleans and polishes floors
Shark says that the Sonic Duo can clean both hard floors and carpets, and polish your hard floors too. The sonic scrubbing action and built-in polishing ability are fairly unique, but this isn’t the first multi-purpose floor cleaner we’ve tried out.
Vax launched a range of hard floor cleaners earlier in 2014, including the Vax Floormate Trio: a three-in-one model which vacuums, washes and dries hard floors. You can read our first look review of the Vax Floormate Trio to find out if it left our researcher’s floors spotless.
Which? floorcare expert Jessica Carson says ‘Its great to see some innovative products launching that aim to make cleaning quicker and easier. But the danger with a multi-purpose cleaner is that it won’t excel at all tasks it’s designed for.
‘In our first look reviews our researchers try out all the different jobs a multi-purpose product claims to tackle, to bring you our verdict on whether its worth coughing up for. So make sure you check out the full review to see if this floor cleaner really will make life easier.’
The Shark Sonic Duo is available from Lakeland for £179.99.
