How good is Tesco Mobile?

Before signing up for a new phone deal, read our review of Tesco to see how it scored in our latest survey of thousands of mobile customers.

We spoke to more than 3,900 real customers from 13 of the biggest mobile networks including EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. They told us exactly what they thought of their phone company, from the customer service on offer to the value for money they get.

What network does Tesco mobile use?

Tesco Mobile uses the O2 network. Tesco Mobile is a 'virtual' mobile network provider, which means it uses another provider's infrastructure – in this case O2's. It offers 3G, 4G and more recently, 5G coverage.

How good is Tesco's mobile coverage?

You can check coverage where you live by using our free interactive mobile network coverage map. Simply enter your postcode into the map and it will tell you how good O2's signal is in your area, as well as comparing it with the other providers.

Tesco Mobile deals and incentives

Tesco Mobile offers standard pay-monthly contracts, as well as its own Anytime Upgrade deals. These are similar to O2's Refresh deal, and split your bill into two components - one for the handset and one for your usage.

At the end of your 24-month contract, you stop paying for your phone and pay only for your monthly usage – saving you money on your bill. If you want a new phone before your contract has finished, you simply pay off whatever's left of your total phone payment.

Tesco Mobile's prices are very competitive. Its cheapest deal costs only £7.50/month for a Sim-only option with 5,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and 2GB of data.

If you prefer to pay as you go, then Tesco Mobile's Triple Credit tariff offers just that – a £10 top-up gets you £30 credit that lasts a month.
