Dean Sobers, Which? travel insurance expert, says:

With 64%, Gigasure's Max policy just met our Best Buy threshold.
Among the features we liked were substantial delay cover (£1,200) and £3,000 for personal belongings.
And while you can add excesses of up to £250 to the policy to tailor the price to your budget, all the Gigasure policies allow to opt out of having an excess if you'd rather pay the extra for the peace of mind during the claim.
The intentional flexibility in the policy's design means that you need to be sure it's configured in a way that suits you - for example, cancellation cover is entirely optional, as is cover for large scale disruptive events like floods and fires.
After you've bought your policy, you can still make tweaks and changes throughout the year using the app. For example, if you make spontaneous plans to go on an adventure holiday, you can add a 'boost' in-app to enhance your policy to provide protection for the sports or activities you'll be engaging in.
Depending on the level of cover you choose, the maximum length of trip on Gigagsure's annual policies varies significantly. With Core, a trip can last up to 31 days. With Pro, it's 45 days. With Max, it's 90 days.
Cover on single trip versions of the policy can last up to 90 days, unless you have backpacker cover, which allows up to 396 days per expedition.
The most basic version of Gigasure's cover, named Core, earned 55% in our analysis, placing it in the bottom 20% of policies rated.
One step up from here was its Pro policy, albeit still in the bottom 40% with a score of 60%. This compared to an overall average policy score of 62%.
The Backpackers policies Core and Max both earned 58%, towards the lower end of our table.
Gigasure will consider covering medical conditions if you declare them when obtaining a quote. However, pre-existing medical conditions are only covered on Core, Pro and Max policies, not the backpacker policies.
Gigasure works with a medical screening company called Verisk to ask customers about their medical conditions.
It isn't a specialist provider for customers with pre-existing medical conditions, but this doesn't necessarily mean it won't be able to cover your medical condition at a reasonable price.
However, if you are struggling to obtain cover, check our guide on travel insurance if you have a medical condition.
Gigasure uses a company called International Medical Group to handle claims.
To begin a claim, call 020 4587 2875. You can also start a claim online or on Gigasure's app.
Before calling for cancellation claims, you should contact your travel agent and/or airline to see if you can get a refund or move your trip.
You'll need to provide your policy number when you call.
Gigasure's Max policy earned 64% in our analysis and was a Best Buy.
Ahead of it was All Clear's Gold policy (a Best Buy), Axa's Silver policy, CedarTree's Gold policy, CoverForYou's Gold policy, Explorer's Level 5 policy, Great Cover's Platinum policy, Holidaysafe's Premier Plus policy (a Best Buy), InsureandGo's Gold policy (a Best Buy), Free Spirit's Super Duper policy, and Outbacker's Gold policy. These scored 65%.
Just behind - with 63% - were Alpha's Zero policy, Holidaysafe's Premier policy, Just Travel Cover: Avion's Gold policy, Just Travel Cover: Infinity Travel Insurance Silver policy, Multitrip's Premier Plus and Tesco's Backpacker - Economy policy.
If highly tweakable cover from an online-based company appeals, and the price you're quoted is competitive, Gigasure's Max policy could prove a great option.
