I regularly get given Tony's Chocolonely for and really look forward to it. The chocolate's gorgeous plus I love the thickness of it. I have a small(ish) piece with my coffee, every day, and it makes me smile as I think of the kids when I have it. Lads, if you're reading, a fry-up wouldn't go amiss, either.
We like: Lots of flavours
Watch out for: Uneven bars can be a bit tricky to break apart
Tony’s Chocolonely offers bold, chunky bars in irresistible varieties such as pretzel toffee, almond sea salt and creamy classic milk. Each 180g bar comes in its signature brightly coloured wrapper, and they can be bought in bundles.
You can even design your own wrapper for birthdays, holidays – or just because – turning a delicious bar into a thoughtful gift that’s as fun to unwrap as it is to eat.

This tool has saved our white carpets from muddy paws. It's really easy to use and ensures your dog doesn't leave behind a trail of dirt as they zoom through the house.
We like: Affordable, easy to use, comes in a range of sizes
Watch out for: Some dogs might not enjoy the sensation
The Tinioey Dog Paw Cleaner is a handy tool for keeping muddy paw prints off the floor after walks. Just add a little water, slip your dog’s paw into the cup, and twist. Soft silicone bristles handle the dirt while the three towels that come with it help with drying afterwards.
It comes in several sizes to fit different breeds and is light enough to take along on trips or hikes.

My sister has one of these wine aerators and when my dad spotted it, he was very taken with what a simple gadget it was! I remember thinking at the time, 'right, that's his father's day gift sorted!'
We like: Speeds up wine aeration
Watch out for: Wine snobs
While you could pop the cork, let it sit for an hour to 'breathe' and then serve, this little gadget could expedite the process. The claim is that aerating wine can bring out more flavours or help it taste better.
It's simple to use: just hold it above the glass and pour the wine into the aerator, where air is drawn in – then out the other end it goes. There's also a removable mesh to filter out sediment.

I bought this myself and it's brilliant – super compact, feels solid and good quality, and charges my phone faster than ever. Look out for discounts – it's often on sale for a little over £10.
We like: Charges devices quickly
Watch out for: Cable sold separately
This 30W USB-C charger from UGREEN is compact on its own, but the foldable pins make it even more travel-friendly. It makes a great stocking filler for those who need a small charger to keep in a bag.
It delivers fast charging for a wide range of devices, from phones to tablets, but don't forget to include a USB-C cable when buying.

I do a lot of reformer Pilates and you need grippy socks. Even though I take care of mine and wash them inside out (as recommended by my instructor), they eventually lose their grip. I hope to find some new ones under the tree.
We like: Prevent slipping during workouts
Watch out for: Pricey in comparison with everyday socks
Perfect for yoga and Pilates lovers, grip socks are a handy tool to improve balance and overall ability in mat-based exercises.
They provide better control and greater stability because of the non-slip, rubberised soles. You’ll be less likely to fall, and they could help you have better form in your movements, too.

This is a great book with sound effects to teach little ones their first words - in both English and French. It has pictures to correlate with the words – baby can touch the picture and it gives the sound effect and then speaks the word.
Watch out for: Not a story book, slightly pricier than other books
LeapFrog has been making educational books for almost 30 years and remains a popular choice among many parents for Christmas gifting.
The LeapFrog 100 Words Baby Book is an interactive way for toddlers to start building their vocabulary in two languages. Little ones can touch the words on each page to hear animals introduce age-appropriate words along with fun sound effects.
The only guide you'll ever need to babyproof your home

I bought these as a gift for my friend's two-year-old and they said he loved them! Granted, I wasn't the one who then had to clean the bath, but apparently they are super easy to wipe clean!
We like: Creative
Watch out for: Can get a little messy
Bath time can be a great opportunity for toddlers to get creative without making a big mess. These washable bath crayons are designed for smooth surfaces like tiles and bath walls, and can be wiped off with a damp cloth or sponge.
They’re sized for little hands to grasp, allowing kids to scribble, draw and even practise letters and numbers while they bathe. They come in five bright colours: yellow, orange, red, green and blue.
These crayons wipe clean with just a damp cloth, but if you're tackling more stubborn stains, make sure you're using one of the best bathroom cleaning sprays

I was given a microplane as a Christmas gift and it's such a game-changer. It makes zesting citrus fruits for baking so much quicker and easier and is also perfect for a quick dash of parmesan on your pasta. I never would have thought to ask for it but I couldn't do without it now!
Watch out for: Might be a challenge to clean thoroughly
As any home cook will tell you, a little lemon zest or a dash of cheese can transform a meal. Perfect for zesting citrus or grating hard cheese, chocolate, cinnamon, onion, garlic and ginger, this stainless steel microplane grater makes food prep easier.
It has an ergonomic soft-touch handle for comfort, non-slip rubber feet for stability and comes with a plastic safety cover for easy and safe storage.

There’s nothing worse than cramming gels, keys and your phone into your shorts. A lightweight running vest keeps essentials close without weighing you down. This one strikes a great balance - functional but not bulky or sweaty. It even fits a soft water bottle.
We like: Has reflective strips for night runs
Watch out for: May not have as much storage space as a full backpack
A lightweight running vest is ideal for runners who want to carry water, snacks, or small gear without the bulk of a backpack.
Unisex and adjustable, this one comes in several colours and is made from breathable mesh and water-resistant fabric. Multiple pockets hold bottles, snacks and other essentials, while reflective strips on the front and back help make you more visible during early-morning or evening runs.

There are dozens of travel adapters around but we've shown cheaper unbranded models can be unsafe. It's worth paying more for a good one - like this excellent, versatile model from MyTravelPal. It works for all your gadgets in over 150 countries, and claims to be one of the safest available, having passed British Safety Standards.
We like: Powers multiple devices at once
Watch out for: It’s not compatible worldwide – check to see restrictions
The MyTravelPal Travel Adaptor is a solid pick for tech-savvy travellers, especially those who hate battling over plug sockets in hotel rooms. Compatible in more than 150 countries, it allows you to charge up to four devices at once – with one 10A AC outlet, a USB-C port and two USB-A ports.
It’s small enough to fit easily into a travel bag, and has passed British safety standards for added peace of mind. It also comes with a two-year UK warranty.

My mum got me some pairs of these back in 2013 – they definitely live up to the name, because I have yet to find a hole after over a decade of use and abuse. I used the same pairs recently during hikes up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Yr Wyddfa.
We like: Lifetime warranty
Watch out for: £25+ for a pair of socks
Sick of gifting socks every year only for them to end up full of holes?
These Darn Tough socks aim to live up to their name with their lifetime warranty. And if your socks do get a hole in them, Darn Tough will send a replacement pair free of charge if you provide proof of purchase. You can read the full terms on its website.
The brand also makes nylon-reinforced work socks designed for those who wear steel-capped shoes, hiking socks and ski socks.

There's nothing quite like fresh popcorn for movie night at home, and kids love the excitement of popping it themselves.
We like: Simple to use
We don't like: Rogue kernels can occasionally fly out
This popcorn maker makes a fun and affordable Secret Santa pick, especially for anyone who’s always hosting film nights. It uses hot air instead of oil, and each batch makes around two portions.
It comes with a measuring cup and four paper popcorn bags, so they can try it out immediately. Just remind them to have a bowl ready, and maybe to duck.

It might be cold, dark and dreary outside, but a few twinkling fairy lights can easily transform your garden into a winter wonderland.
We like: Passed all our durability tests
We don't like: Relatively expensive
These solar garden lights were some of the best we tested - they survived a winter outside, sharp tugs on the wires, freezing temperatures and regular soaking. They'll do well to light up the garden for many years to come.

There’s a huge variety of sets that appeal to kids of all ages and interests plus adults like Lego, too. I have the Orchid and Bonsai Tree as well as Disney and Harry Potter themed sets. I enjoy focusing my energy for a few minutes (or hours!) on building something then enjoying the satisfaction of sitting back and admiring my creation.
We like: Gift a creative challenge with wellness benefits
Watch out for: Lego requires patience
In a 2022 study by Lego, 87% of adults said play helped them to feel calm, with many citing hands-on activities as the best way to achieve this.
Give them the Orchid or Bonsai Tree from the Botanical Collection or peruse the Lego sets for adults collection of 100-plus sets. From architecture to video game-themed sets, there's something to build for every interest.

Bialetti’s stovetop makers are classics. The brand has had plenty of design partnerships, including one with Dolce & Gabbana costing around £3,000. That’s a bit rich for me, but thankfully, there are plenty of much more affordable alternatives.
We like: No waste beyond the coffee grounds themselves
Watch out for: Not suitable for induction
This budget-friendly machine makes around three to four cups of rich, espresso-style coffee and is designed to sit neatly on your hob. It could be a great stocking filler for espresso fans.
You fill the lower chamber with water, add your chosen blend to the filter and screw the top firmly in place. Put the pot on the stove and your coffee will bubble over into the top chamber when it's ready – just give it a stir to balance the flavour.

This putting mat has been a game-changer for my practice routine. The materials feel premium, and the alignment guides make it easy to focus on improving my consistency. It also rolls up neatly into the carry bag, so I can easily store it away when I'm done.
We like: Easy to set up and packs away neatly
Watch out for: Doesn't include a ball return system
With their own indoor putting mat, any golfer can work on their aim and accuracy without setting foot on the course. It means they can squeeze in a little practice at home, whatever the weather is doing outside.
This mat from PuttOUT has a rubber backing to help keep it in place and is designed to recreate the feel of a 'medium-to-fast' green.

GraviTrax makes a brilliant gift for children who like to build through trial and error. The starter kit includes instructions to build many tracks, and you can also get creative and build your own. It includes a substantial amount of pieces so you don't necessarily need to buy more.
We like: Seemingly endless track combinations
Watch out for: Only six marbles included; expansion packs may be needed for further play
The GraviTrax Starter Set is a hands-on gift for kids aged eight and up, with 122 pieces and nine track instructions to start building exciting marble runs.
Experiment with gravity as marbles race through twists, loops and turns, and expand the fun with compatible GraviTrax and GraviTrax PRO sets.
Deluxe elements including trampolines, catapults and ziplines are sold as expansion packs. While they aren't necessary, they can be fun additions for gifting at a future date.

The perfect way to tire energic toddlers out!
We like: Folds away for storage
Watch out for: Take care that little ones don't tumble off
For bouncing off the inevitable sugar rush after they eat too many chocolates, this foldable kids’ trampoline features a padded safety cover, foam-covered handle and non-slip rubber feet designed for stability and protection.
It uses 30 bungee cords instead of springs to reduce noise and impact, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor use. According to the manufacturer, it has a rust-resistant steel frame and supports up to 150kg.

I was gifted my illuminated mirror about five years ago, and have used it almost every day since. The bright, magnified reflection allows me to see every detail, ensuring my make-up application is flawless, and it's the reason my winged eyeliner is always symmetrical.
We like: Great for applying detailed make-up looks
Watch out for: Do they have a dressing table for the mirror?
Having the perfect lighting is key to creating a flawless make-up look. But not all bedrooms or bathrooms are set up for that. An illuminated make-up mirror is a practical solution that lights up your face in all the right places so you can get the details right.
This No7 make-up mirror is framed by an LED light, with five times magnification on the reverse side, and it can be charged via USB.
