Nationwide's travel insurance comes with its FlexPlus packaged current account, along with UK and European breakdown assistance and worldwide family mobile phone insurance.
You will need to pay a £18 monthly fee for maintaining the account, but this covers you, your partner if they live with you, and children aged under 23 who live with you or their other parent. You can travel independently or together.
Nationwide's policies are underwritten by Aviva.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you'll need to contact Nationwide to add it to the policy – which may mean paying extra. You can do this online or by phone.
Nationwide works with a medical screening company called Verisk to ask customers about their medical conditions.
Nationwide isn't a specialist provider for customers with pre-existing medical conditions, but this doesn't necessarily mean it won't be able to cover your medical condition at a reasonable price.
However, if you're struggling to obtain cover, check our guide on travel insurance if you have a medical condition.
Aviva (Nationwide's underwriter) uses a claims handling company called Charles Taylor Assistance to handle its claims service.
85-90% of claims were accepted on Nationwide's FlexPlus policies between December 2024 and November 2025.
While we don't have industry statistics for this period, this acceptance rate is higher than the average industry average in 2024 (the most recent reported by the FCA). In that year, the average claims acceptance rate for worldwide cover was 84.5%.
For medical emergencies, call +44 (0)1603 605159. The claims line is available 24 hours a day.
For claims that aren't a medical emergency, call 0044 1243 976 418 to make a claim from abroad. To make a claim from the UK, call 0800 046 2555. These claims lines are open from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-4pm Saturdays and bank holidays. You can also claim online.
Insurers will usually expect you to try recouping lost costs (such as deposits) elsewhere before making an insurance claim – for example, checking with the travel provider whether you're entitled to a refund or can move a cancelled trip. However, you can still call the insurer to let it know if there's a chance you will need to claim.
You'll need your policy document when you call.
