Latest washer-dryer reviews from Which?

Our new tests rate washer-dryers from major brands

Our latest washer-dryer reviews are now online, and include models from leading brands such as Hotpoint, Zanussi and LG. Some washer-dryers have done well but our tests also uncovered some machines that won’t wash clothes and take more than four and a half hours to dry a single load of laundry.

In our washer-dryers group test, we pitted washer-dryers from major brands against one another, as well as a model from the lesser known but re-emerging UK brand, Servis.

The Servis has a few neat tricks up it sleeves, such as being able to tell you if you can afford to squeeze any more laundry into the drum or if you’ve exceeded the program’s weight limit. It’ll then suggest how much washing powder to add.

Our full in-depth washer-dryer reviews reveal everything you need to know before you buy, including how well different appliances clean and dry, how easy they are to use and how much they’ll add to your energy bills.

Two Don’t Buy washer-dryers

Our test uncovered a pair of Don’t Buy washer-dryers that are so bad that we think you should avoid them altogether. The models in question do a poor job of cleaning clothes, take ages to dry your laundry and are annoyingly noisy.

These appliances might look alluring on the shop floor – but take them home without having read our reviews first, and you might find yourself with a serious case of buyer’s remorse. To make sure you shop smart, check our list of Best Buy washer-dryers.

Big LG washer-dryer

We’ve also tested our first ever super-large 12kg capacity washer-dryer. The LG F1695RDH’s cavernous capacity means it might be suited to those who have a laundry basket the size of a skip.

It’s huge drum has enough space for three pairs of adult’s jeans, two pair of children’s jeans, six shirts, three bed sheets, six pillowcases, six tea towels and five small towels.

If that sounds like your average cotton load, then this model could be for you. However, a bigger-than-normal capacity can mean bigger-than-normal energy running costs. You can find out how much it will add to your bills by reading the full LG F1695RDH review.
