What does Argos offer?

Underwritten by Pinnacle Insurance Plc, which works with brands across the UK and Europe, Argos policies cover cats, dogs and rabbits.

For cats and dogs, it offers a selection of policies – lifetime, time-limited and maximum benefit. These cover vets' fees, including dental treatment, theft or straying, and if your pet's needs mean you have to cancel your holiday.

It offers a £1 discount per pet per month when you insure more than one pet, and has a 24-hour helpline that provides access to veterinary nurses over the phone or online.

How good is Argos at handling claims?

In 2023, Argos's underwriter - Pinnacle Insurance Plc - paid 95% of claims made on its lifetime policies. This is in line with the industry average of 95%.

Some 0-5% of claimants made a complaint - again, around the average of 1%.

Argos: how can you claim?

You can claim with Argos through its website or you can ask your vet to make a claim for you. This is recommended, as your vet will have your pet's medical history and treatment details to hand. Not all vets will do this though.

If you make a claim yourself, make sure you have a copy of the pet's medical details and any paperwork or invoices detailing the costs of its treatment.

You can also call Argos on 0344 543 1053.
