Petplan pet insurance review

Petplan is one of the UK's largest pet insurers, with more than 45 years' experience helping pets through illness and injury.

It offers insurance for cats, dogs, rabbits and horses, underwritten by Allianz. 

For dogs and cats, it provides a selection of lifetime policies with annual limits for vet fees, as well as time-limited cover, which will pay for the treatment of a condition for up to 12 months.

Petplan policies can provide cover for some pre-existing medical conditions (for example, if there have been no recent symptoms). However, this depends on the pet's medical history and must be agreed with Petplan when the insurance is taken out.

You can claim with PetPlan via its website, by post or through your vet.

If you make a claim directly (not through your vet), make sure you have a copy of your pet's medical details and any paperwork or invoices detailing the costs of its treatment.
