What does Admiral offer?

Admiral was set up in 1993, originally specialising in car insurance. It now offers a wide variety of products, including pet insurance.

Customers can choose from its selection of lifetime and time-limited policies for dogs and cats, all of which include access to a free 24-hour helpline for advice from a UK-registered vet.

Its multi-pet insurance offers a discount of up to 15% per pet and you could get an extra 10% off if you hold other Admiral insurance policies.

How good is Admiral at handling claims?

Admiral's underwriter - EUI Limited - accepted 85-90% of claims made on its lifetime policies in 2023.

This is below the industry average of 95% and means its policies can't be Which? Best Buys.

Some 0-5% of claimants raised a complaint with the insurer. This is in line with the industry average of 1%.

Admiral: how can you claim?

You can claim with Admiral through its website. You can also ask your vet to make a claim for you, but not all vets do it.

If you make a claim yourself, make sure you have a copy of the pet's medical details and any paperwork or invoices detailing the costs of its treatment.

You can also call Admiral on 0333 777 7362.
