We get it – we're disappointed, too. With uncertainties around tariffs, Microsoft has raised its price on the consoles and there's not that many good deals around either.
Since May, prices have increased to £300 for a Series S, and the Series X has got a new eye-watering price tag of £500.
We've also checked for bundle, controller, and games deals. You can view our picks below.
Read on to find what you need to know before buying an Xbox Series X or S. As always, we'll let you know whether it's the cheapest price ever and whether that bundle is as good as it seems.

Best Xbox Series S and X Black Friday deals
Our pick: Xbox Series X
*Average price in the last six months: £507.51. Cheapest price in past six months: £429

We like: 'Play Anywhere' games means you can play games on PC
Watch out for: Make sure you have a TV to play it on – why not check out one of our best TV deals?
This console comes with 1TB of storage and can play games at 4K at up to 120FPS. The integrated disc drive means you can also play physical games, and save money by buying secondhand ones.
Xboxes have gotten the opposite of deals throughout 2025 – the prices of both the Series X and S rose in the UK. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled over Black Friday and updating this page with the bargains we find. We would recommend hold off on buying a console until some better deals roll in.
More Xbox Series X deals
If you don't want to deal with dics, you can pick up the digital-only version of the Xbox Series X – it's the same hardware and is slightly cheaper. Watch out though; you won't be able to save any money on secondhand games.
Xbox Series X (digital edition)
[Average price: £449.99 | Cheapest price: £449]

Also consider: Xbox Series S (512GB)
*Average price in the last six months: £290.36. Cheapest price in past six months: £253.97

We like: Integrated crossplay on PC, some mobile devices, and more
Watch out for: No disc drive
Probably the most 'budget-friendly' of the consoles, this model of Xbox isn't as powerful spec-wise as the Series X – mainly playing games at 1440p at up to 120FPS.
It's smaller than a Series X console, and it can't play physical discs. However, like the Series X, deals on it have been somewhat disappointing over this year. Right now, the best 'deal' is the console's average price. We'd hold off on buying until there are some better discounts.

Best Black Friday deals on Xbox accessories
Our pick: Xbox Elite Series 2 controller
*Average price in the last six months: £117.30. Cheapest price in past six months: £98.70

We like: Rechargeable – no AA batteries required
Watch out for: Some retailers have it on permanent discount
While it can cost nearly double that of a standard wireless Xbox controller, this one has several programmable buttons you can assign specific controls to.
You can also fine-tune the triggers, adjust the tension of the thumbsticks, and save up to three separate controller profiles.
One to keep an eye on: ASUS ROG Xbox Ally
Average price in the last six months: £499.49 Cheapest Price in the last six months: £498.99

We like: Playing both Xbox and PC games on one handheld
Watch out for: No OLED screen that similar (or cheaper) models may have
While this is a standalone handheld that doesn't require you to connect it to an Xbox, it runs a modified version of Windows that integrates better with the Xbox 'ecosystem'.
You can also use Xbox remote-play features to stream your Xbox games to this handheld. However, a bigger selling point is that you're also able to play your Steam and Xbox libraries on one device.
This new handheld was released in the UK in October, so deals aren't so great right now – the biggest discount we've seen is just £1.99. That said, we're hoping to see some better discounts soon.

What is an Xbox Game Pass?
Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft's subscription service offering a large game library to download and play on Xbox, PC, or mobile, depending on your subscription. You can play as much as you want, whenever you want — think of it as the gaming version of streaming movies.
While it seems like a good bargain, Microsoft has recently announced that the price of the Game Pass Ultimate price is going to be increased from £15 to £23 per month for UK gamers.
You can choose from different plans, depending on how many games you want to play. Xbox Game Pass Essential plan gets you access to 50 games and costs £7 a month. The step up is the Premium plan for £11 per month which gets you access to more than 200 games. For £23 per month, you can get the Ultimate pass which gets you access to over 400 titles on both Xbox and PC. You can check their game catalogue for each plan here.
Even with recent price increases, investing in an Xbox Game Pass can offer more value compared to purchasing individual games separately.
How much does an Xbox typically cost?
Since the price increase, the Xbox typically costs:
- £499.99 for an Xbox Series X (1TB), £589.99 for the 2TB model.
- £299.99 for an Xbox Series S (512GB), £349.99 for the 1TB model.
Both consoles come with one controller, plus cables.
Has the Xbox been discounted before?
If you're wondering what a good price looks like, here are the best prices we've seen each console at:
- We saw an Xbox Series X on sale for £379 over Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2024.
- We saw an Xbox Series S on sale for £209 over Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2024.
There was the odd winter deal that had dropped prices even further than this, but they were only for a day or two.
What is the difference between an Xbox Series X and Series S?
The Series X is the more expensive and more powerful model. It can run games in 4K whereas the Series S only supports up to 1440p resolution. The Series X has more processing power, but both consoles can run games up to 120 frames per second.
The Series X comes with 1TB of storage, while the Series S can come with either 512GB or 1TB.
Regardless of which console you choose, you can play the same games and run the same apps, such as Netflix and Disney+, on both. Only the Series X can run physical games though, so if you're looking to save money (in the long run) by buying second-hand games, it might be worthwhile considering the higher-end model. If you're only going to be using Game Pass and playing through that, it may be worth saving your money and getting the S model.
The Series X also can double as a Blu-ray player, too.
An Xbox makes a fabulous gift – but they won't fit everyone's budget. On the other hand, our best tech gifts start from under £30.
What do I need to know before buying an Xbox?

When buying any games console, it depends on how you'll use it and which games you want to play. On paper, both the Xbox Series X and PS5 have extremely similar specs, and are both powerful machines that can game at 4K.
The Series S can save you some money, but at the cost of lower performance and resolution.
Ultimately, it comes down to which console exclusives you want to play. Just remember you'll need a TV or a computer monitor to play on either Xbox.
If you're trying to save money, a Series S and a computer monitor should be a pretty solid setup. You can get a decent monitor for around £100, so be sure to read our computer monitor reviews to find out which budget models performed the best in our testing.

How to get the best Xbox Black Friday deals
- Know what a good deal looks like: If you can get a console, plus games or other extras for the console's RRP that's generally a good deal — even if it seems underwhelming. If you can get a 512GB Series S for £200 or under, or a Series X for £450 or under – that's a good bargain.
- Keep an eye on bundles: they can be a great way to save some money on games and accessories you might get later down the line. Some retailers will bundle controllers and games with consoles, so we'd recommend keeping an eye out for console bundles with games you'll want to play. A good rule of thumb when shopping bundles is to subtract the price by £480, then compare prices on the games included vs buying them separately.
- Save this page: our experts will be scouring thousands of Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, TV deals, and more to help you find real bargains.
- Consider buying second-hand: we've found that you can make hefty savings when buying a new console and games second-hand. You can check out online sellers like CeX, MusicMagpie, and Game, who all have good stocks of second hand consoles and games.
