Toyota Prius 10th Anniversary special edition

Could it be the first green hot hatch? Er... no

Prius gets alloys and bodykit

Toyota is celebrating a decade of the Prius hybrid with this special edition 10th Anniversary model.

Yes, the Toyota Prius you see pictured here really does have tinted windows, 17-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels and a bodykit.

Prius 10th Anniversary: no eco penalty

The addition of front and rear bumper extensions plus sideskirts has done nothing to dent the Toyota’s eco credentials.

Like all high-end Prius variants, the 10th Anniversary still returns 70.6mpg while emitting just 92g/km CO2 (according to Toyota’s claims and official EU testing). But despite the macho looks – those dark-finish alloys are certainly attention-grabbing – there are no power upgrades.

So, it will still take 10.4 seconds to get to 62mph from a standstill, and knock on the door of 112mph flat out. It just looks more exciting doing it.

Leather for top-spec Toyota

The inside of the 10th Anniversary has also received a mild upgrade, in the form of embossed black leather upholstery.

Since the car is based on the top-spec T-Spirit, standard equipment is already comprehensive. Satellite navigation, Bluetooth, reversing camera, Park Assist (self parking system), keyless go, cruise control, rain sensors and head-up display are all standard.

Prius price premium

Toyota will build 1,000 Prius 10th Anniversary models for UK sale.

They are available in a choice of White Pearl or Astral Black paint only, and cost £26,150 on the road. That’s £2,752 more than the £23,398 list price for a regular Prius T-Spirit.

But that’s the price you pay for extra style…
