Best deals in the John Lewis sale

'Never knowingly undersold on quality, service and price' is the John Lewis promise and John Lewis promises to check and match the prices of 25 leading retailers even when they are running offers. John Lewis says this means you can be confident that you are paying a competitive price - but it does not lead the charge towards the lowest possible prices in the same way that online retailers do.

Even so there are some good deals to be found, which we've drawn together so you don't have to trawl the John Lewis shelves to find the best bargains.

* References to ‘Average price' and 'Cheapest price' are based on Which? market knowledge and information supplied by our partners. Prices are checked for the six calendar months prior to publication. Not all retailers are included in our checks.

Best TV deals at John Lewis

LG 43QNED82A6B

Average price in the past six months: £502
Cheapest price in the past six months: £399*

LG 43QNED82A6B television
  • 43-inch 4K TV
  • QLED display
  • Supports HDR10 and HLG formats

We like: Simple to use

We don't like: Poor motion handling at SD

The 43-inch 43QNED82A6B is the smallest and cheapest of LG’s QNED range. QNED is unique to LG, but it basically means it has quantum dots to boost colour.

It’s more basic than other QNED TVs, which keeps costs low, but still has a few features you don't always find on TVs in this price range: support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, recording and pausing live TV with the built-in PVR, a microphone in the remote that enables you to control some parts of the TV with your voice.

Should you opt for this discounted 43-inch model? Discover all you need to know in our LG 43QNED82A6B review.

Best tablet deals at John Lewis

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

Average price in the past six months: £1,097
Cheapest price in the past six months: £756.97*

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

John Lewis is now selling the platinum silver Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra for just £799:

  • 14.6-inch screen
  • 12GB Ram
  • 256GB of storage

We like: Huge and bright display

We don't like: Expensive, even on a deal - so consider whether you really need all this power

This is the highest-powered, largest, and most expensive Android tablet from Samsung's range. The screen has a luxurious number of pixels (2960 x 1848 resolution),  a top-of-the-range MediaTek chip, alongside a generous 12GB Ram. It's a tablet made for more than just web browsing and video watching activities - it's for creative work, like video editing and complex image design.

If you're not sure whether the already substantial 256GB of storage is enough, you can expand it later with a micro-SD card. It comes with a USB-C charging cable – you don't get a plug.

Honor Pad X8a

Average price in the past six months: £122.77
Cheapest price in the past six months: £94.99*

Honor Pad X8a

You can buy it from John Lewis for £99.99, or compare prices at other retailers:

  • 11-inch screen
  • 8300mAh battery
  • Stereo speakers

We like: It does the basics well

We didn't like: The screen could be brighter

Even though it's a tablet that's very much designed with the budget market in mind, the Honor Pad X8a still shows just how far that sector has come as it offers up a large 11-inch LCD panel for not that much money.

With a 90Hz refresh rate, the tablet is capable of providing a smooth feeling of motion as you scroll through apps or play less taxing games on the go.

The inclusion of four speakers to create a stereo sound effect is helpful if you're watching some entertainment at home and you don't have a pair of earbuds or headphones to hand.

Best laptop deals at John Lewis

Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (15.6", X1-26-100, 16GB)

Average price in the past six months: £691
Cheapest price in the past six months: £449*

Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (15.6 X1-26-100, 16GB)

Pick up this deal for £449 from John Lewis or compare prices below:
  • Snapdragon X processor
  • 16GB Ram
  • 256GB of eUFS memory

We like: Powerful processor with AI capabilities

We don't like: Gets very warm below the keyboard

This 15-inch touchscreen Windows laptop is part of a wave of new Copilot+ computers - meaning it includes a neural processing unit (NPU) that can run AI workloads locally, rather than in the cloud. Do note that this also means its Snapdragon X processor is ARM-based (just like Macs), and these can occasionally have compatibility issues with older peripherals, like a printer. So check before you buy if you think this will be a problem for you.

Coupled with 16GB of Ram, the chipset should provide plenty of power for tackling even the most arduous tasks. Storage on our test model was 256GB of eUFS memory (an alternative to a solid-state drive, more commonly used in smartphones), which is a little on the stingy side. It supports the latest and fastest Wi-Fi 7 standard.

To find out all the pros and cons of this model, see our comprehensive Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (15.6") review.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (2022, M2)

Average price in the past six months: £852
Cheapest price in the past six months: £699*

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (2022, M2)

Available for £699 from John Lewis and Currys

  • Apple M2 processor
  • 8GB Ram
  • 256GB SSD

We like: Quiet when working hard

We don't like: Battery not as good as predecessor

This 2022-generation MacBook has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display and a processor with eight cores, four of which are high-speed and four of which handle lightweight tasks in the background. At 1.22kg and 1.13cm thick, it makes a great portable companion to join you on your travels.

There's the choice of four finishes: midnight, space grey, silver and starlight.

Best portable speaker deal at John Lewis

Sony ULT FIELD 3

Average price in the past six months: £144
Cheapest price in the past six months: £98*

Sony ULT FIELD 3 speaker
Available from John Lewis for £99 or compare prices at other retailers:
  • Large portable speaker
  • 11 x 26 x 8cm (HxWxD), 1.15kg

We like: It's quick

We don't like: Fairly bulky

Sony’s pleasingly chunky little UTL FIELD 3 speaker is discreet enough to sit on a bookshelf, but has a battery to take it on the go. You can pair multiple speakers together in a party mode to play the same music around your home. It charges with a USB C cable (provided). It’s dustproof and don't worry about taking it outside in muggy weather, it can be submerged in a metre of water for up to 30 minutes without breaking.

We’ve been impressed with Sony’s Bluetooth efforts in the past, and its audio excels in other areas, too, so it certainly has the prowess to get big sound from small packages.

Check out our full Sony ULT FIELD 3 review to see if this portable speaker shows Sony at its best.

Best fridge freezer deals at John Lewis

Haier HBW7518CTK

Average price in the last six months: £995
Cheapest price in the past six months: £885*

Haier HBW7518CTK fridge freezer
  • Integrated
  • Frost-free freezer
  • White

We like: Very quiet

We don't like: Big bottles don't fit in the door

This is an integrated fridge freezer with a 70/30 split between the fridge and freezer. The doors are reversible, and it’s designed for installation in a sliding door system, where the cabinet door attaches to rails instead of directly to the appliance.

This is a smart appliance. It can be controlled using the Haier hOn app on iOS and Android devices.

It has three shelves, two drawers and door racks, plus a bottle shelf in the fridge and three more drawers in the freezer. The controls and display are positioned in the middle of the drawers, which Haier says is ergonomic and practical.

Our Haier HBW7518CTK review reveals if this model keeps its cool when temperatures soar.

Best washing machine deals at John Lewis

Hoover H-WASH 350 H3WPS496TAMB6-80

Average price in the past six months: £320
Cheapest price in the past six months: £221*

Hoover H3WPS686TAM6-80 washing machine
  • Freestanding
  • 9kg cottons capacity
  • White

We like: Not too noisy

We don't like: Some usability niggles

Hoover claims that this machine ‘provides expert care for all fabrics’. It offers a surprising amount of programs and hi-tech features, with all the standard program bases covered, including options for cottons and synthetics, as well as an eco mode, allergy care setting and a cycle specifically for fitness wear.

There are three quick-wash options ranging from 14 to 44 minutes, and the hOn smartphone app allows you to check on progress from your phone and start and stop cycles remotely.
