Our research showed that Sky broadband customers had lukewarm views of the service they received.

Sky broadband deals

Sky is best known for its combined TV and broadband deals but it also offers several options for those who don't want to subscribe to its pay-TV service. These broadband deals often also include a phone service, although changes to landline phone services in the UK mean this now usually works via its broadband service.

Sky's contracts usually last 24 months. Its packages aren't restricted by a fair-usage policy or any traffic management, plus you'll be able to stay online when you're out and about, thanks to free and unlimited wi-fi access at Sky hotspots via the Sky WiFi app.

If you want a package that includes a pay-TV service, read our Sky TV and broadband provider review.

Our guide to the best broadband deals includes top picks from our experts on the best value broadband.

How much is Sky broadband?

Sky offers part-fibre and full-fibre packages, with various combinations of TV and premium channels alongside its broadband service.

You can view the entire range of Sky broadband packages, or enter your postcode below to check for the best deals across all providers in your area.

Sky broadband speeds

Sky offers a range of broadband packages, with a focus on full-fibre deals. Average speeds for its full-fibre deals start at 75Mbps and run as high as an ultrafast 5,000Mbps (5Gbps), although its very fastest speeds have more limited availability.

Customers who don't yet have access to full-fibre technology can still get a partial-fibre broadband packages with average speeds of 67Mbps.

To compare prices and see more details on each package, read our Sky broadband package reviews.

Does Sky put up broadband prices every year?

Sky has avoided putting clauses covering mid-contract price rises in broadband contracts. However, it does regularly change its prices (usually in the first half of each year). If you're affected, you'll receive a notification letting you know that you can switch away without penalty if you choose not to accept the price rise.

What is Sky Wi-fi Max?

Wi-fi Max is Sky's wi-fi guarantee add-on. It's available for free with Sky's Full Fibre Gigafast+ deal, otherwise it  usually costs between £4 and £10 per month. For that, you get:

  • an upgraded router
  • wi-fi extenders (if required) to help improve the signal across your house
  • a 'wi-fi guarantee' in every room of 10Mbps or 25Mbps, depending on your package.

Sky Wi-fi Max has a 24-month minimum term and can't be cancelled without incurring penalty charges, so it's worth carefully weighing up whether you'll make the most of these perks for the monthly cost.

What is Sky Broadband Shield?

Sky Broadband Shield is provided to Sky customers at no extra cost and includes tools to make it safer to browse online. These include:

  • protection against websites that may contain malware or phishing attacks
  • explicit content filters to safeguard the whole family
  • support across multiple devices.

Although Broadband Shield may provide some helpful benefits, it's not a replacement for dedicated antivirus software

What is the latest Sky router?

The router you get depends on the package you take.

Customers of lower-tier packages get its standard Sky Hub, which allows you to check your speeds and connected devices online or through the My Sky app.

If you've signed up to speeds of 500 or 900Mbps, you'll get the Sky Hub Max, with WiFi 6 technology, while 5Gbps customers get the advanced Gigafast+ hub. This uses WiFi 7 technology, which is capable of delivering speeds twice as fast as WiFi 6.
