What’s an Inntravel holiday like?

Inntravel specialises in off-the-beaten-track self-guided holidays – everything from walking Normandy’s D-Day beaches to cycling in Slovenia. Its attention to detail ensures a slick operation. It provides a detailed folder of maps and background notes about local history and culture, as well as a supporting app, and your luggage is seamlessly transferred between hotels along the route.

In our package holidays survey, Inntravel achieved a fantastic 83% customer score, which reflects the glowing reviews it received from holidaymakers. One described their holidays with Inntravel as ‘some of the highlights of our life’, while another described the service as ‘exceptional’.

At £200 per person per day, on average (according to survey respondents), it’s not the cheapest self-guided option, but it’s one of two Which? Recommended Providers in this category.

It received a full five stars for description matching reality, so you can be sure there won’t be any nasty surprises.

Travellers were impressed by the accommodation. One said: ‘The range of accommodation, from fairly simple hostels to beautiful villas, was just right. Inntravel had clearly done a lot of research, and knew the accommodation owners personally.’

Inntravel also received a good four-star customer service rating. One customer told us: ‘The whole booking process (undertaken mostly on the phone) was very easy, with helpful and knowledgeable staff able to answer any questions we had. They sent all the information in a very timely fashion.’

Another told us: ‘We have been on many different types of holiday with Inntravel over the years and cannot recommend them enough for quality of service.’

In our separate ski provider survey, it wasn’t rated quite so highly for its ski experiences and there are better options for this type of holiday. Find out which we most recommend in our guide to the best ski holiday providers

Inntravel’s refund, cancellation and surcharge policy

Inntravel is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP), meaning that, as well as being one of the most highly rated holiday firms in our survey, it has also guaranteed to offer a full refund or free changes if the Foreign Office (FCDO) changes its advice about your destination.

It has also promised that in 2025, it won’t apply any additional surcharges to holidays that have already been booked.
