For all other categories, in August/September 2024, we asked 12,119 Which? Connect panel members and members of the public about 19,958 holidays from the past two years, in an online survey.
What’s a Trailfinders holiday like?
Time after time, Trailfinders has proved it’s one of the UK’s best holiday providers. Not only is it rated the full five stars for customer service and the overall organisation of its holidays, but it also finished top of the table in six of our 10 holiday categories.
If you’re after a beach holiday, a city break, an all-inclusive, a tailor-made trip or a family holiday – and you're OK with the big outlay – then there’s no one better.
What makes a Trailfinders holiday so special? It’s the level of customer care you’ll receive. Trailfinders doesn’t really do off-the-peg online bookings. Nearly nine in 10 of its customers book their holidays in one of its 45 travel centres, over the phone or via a virtual consultation, meaning that advisors can ‘take as much time as needed to make sure all your needs are met’, as one customer put it. ‘They really listened and organised the holiday we wanted, rather than what they assumed we’d want,’ said another.
Service like this doesn’t come cheap, so it makes sense to use Trailfinders for more complex or far-flung trips. However, several readers told us that advisors are happy to work to the budget you give them without compromising on the ‘excellent standard of hotels’ and the ‘local companies who provide great experiences’.
For the outdoor enthusiasts who want an adventure holiday, Trailfinders can build a custom itinerary. Travellers who chose Trailfinders for their adventure/activity holiday were particularly impressed with the customer service they received, where ‘nothing was too much trouble’.
Should anything go wrong, Trailfinders offers exceptional support. Not only does it keep all your money in a trust account until you return home from holiday (in case an airline or provider goes bust), but it will also help to sort out any problems. One survey respondent, who had an accident and had to curtail their holiday, said: ‘Trailfinders were brilliant. They booked us a new flight home and arranged extra accommodation without any hassle.’
Trailfinders refund, cancellation and surcharge policy
Trailfinders is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP). This means that, as well as being one of the most highly rated holiday firms in our survey, it has also guaranteed to offer a full refund or free changes if the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) changes its advice about your destination.
It has also promised that, in 2026, it won’t apply any additional surcharges to holidays that have already been booked.
