Quote Me Happy’s mid-range Essentials Plus policy was a buildings Best Buy, achieving a laudable 77% policy score for its buildings cover, placing it in the top fifth of policies analysed.
It did decently enough with its contents cover, scoring 66%, which is close to the 68% average.
It’s one of a few policies that offers no-claims discount protection as an add-on, which means that if you make a claim, your premium won’t go up as steeply as it otherwise would. And unlike many policies, it doesn’t cap the amount it will pay (within the total amount the policy can pay – your sum insured) for putting you in temporary accommodation if you’re unable to live at home during a claim.
We were less keen on a comparatively low claims limit per item of contents, at £1,500. Its contents cover also doesn’t cover credit cards or digital downloads, which lost it some points in our analysis.
If you decide to part company with your insurer within the policy’s cooling-off period, you may still face an early cancellation fee reflecting the insurer’s admin costs of setting up the policy.
This isn’t the case with Quote Me Happy, which won’t charge for leaving if you decide it isn’t for you in the first 14 days. However, if you leave following the cooling-off period, a £34 charge will apply.
Quote Me Happy’s pared-back Essentials cover predictably did less well than Essentials Plus when we assessed its cover levels. Nonetheless, its buildings cover still got a better-than-average score of 73% (the average was 71%). However, its contents cover was near the bottom of our table with a score of 55%.
Its Premier policy got 79% for its buildings cover – among the top five policies rated – and 71% for its contents cover (in the top half of scorers).
Like Essentials Plus, it was a buildings Best Buy. A poorer-than-average acceptance rate for contents claims meant we couldn’t give it similar recognition for its contents cover.

Want to pay monthly? Quote Me Happy charges interest (at a variable rate), so you might be better off paying annually on an interest-free credit card.
