Samsung UE55TU7020KXXU 4K 55-inch TV – was £479, now £399
Argos exclusive model
We like: great menus, decent sound
We don’t like: HDR (to adjust contrast) could be better, dark contrast, blurry standard definition (SD) picture
This model is part of Samsung’s brand new 4K range launched for Black Friday. Its low price makes it an attractive option if you’re looking for a 4K TV that won’t break the bank. But there are also rival models like the slightly more expensive LG 55UN73006LA, available for £429 at Currys PC World*. So is it worth going for the Samsung, or paying a little more?
Read our full Samsung UE55TU7020KXXU review to find out, or buy it now at Argos. (There are special offers on brackets, stands and sound bars when bought with this TV too – see Argos’ offers through the link.)
*(A recent Which? investigation into Currys PC World suggests the firm has an issue with how it handles complaints about faulty products. So do consider this before making a purchase.)
LG 65NANO866NA 4K NanoCell TV – £849 (£100 off typical price)
We like: Nicely detailed, natural colours, great sound, easy to use
We don’t like: Narrow viewing angle, HDR over-darkens picture, no UK catch-up apps currently
LG’s higher-end range of TVs are called ‘NanoCell’ as they add an extra layer of nanoparticles to filter out impure colours. Sitting face-on to the TV, the screen is fantastic with exceptional 4k, and standard and high definition looking superb as well. Argos refers to this TV as the ’65NANO86′.
Our TV expert says
‘Argos has a wide range of TVs from leading brands, including LG and Samsung, but the cheapest models are from its own brand, Bush. We’d advise you stick with the bigger brands though. Falling prices means you don’t need to pay that much more for an LG or Samsung TV and they tend to be higher quality.
‘We haven’t tested any Bush TVs in 2020, but models we’ve reviewed in the past have been poor. Stick with the brands you know and use our reviews to find the best model.’

Sony WH-1000XM3 active noise cancelling headphones – now £219, lowest price ever at Argos
We like: noise cancelling, well-featured smartphone app
We don’t like: touch controls could be better
The Sony WH-1000XM3 are Sony’s previous-generation flagship noise-cancelling headphones. Since their successors, the Sony WH-1000XM4, were released this year (costing a steep £349), the XM3s are being now offered at more attractive prices. Headphones with effective noise cancelling are rarely cheap, but with the XM3 deal here you’re now getting the quality of a top-of-the-range pair at a surprisingly mid-range price point. But being released back in 2018, are the XM3s still one of the best pairs around?
Our headphones expert says
‘The Apple AirPods are bound to be a popular choice this Black Friday, but there are lots of rivals as well – many are cheaper too. Some come with extra features like noise-isolating earpieces, waterproofing and some are specially designed for sports. In-ear headphones also aren’t for everyone on-ear and and over-ear headphones can offer longer battery lives as well.
‘If you’re looking for active noise cancelling to effectively cancel out background sounds, expect to spend around £100 more than basic headphones, as we find in our rigorous lab tests that cheap noise cancelling headphones – with a small number of exceptions – frequently disappoint.’

Other Argos Black Friday deals
Samsung HW-T550 sound bar (with subwoofer included) – was £299, now £249
We like: Sound quality (especially speech, movies and music), simple to set-up and use, affordable
We don’t like: Display on the small side, not as many features as some rivals
This sound bar is actually better according to our testing than some higher-priced models from Samsung – a true bargain. It comes with a separate wireless subwoofer too, which should give more oomph to the bass and make movies in particular more atmospheric and cinematic.
Samsung HW-S60T / Samsung HW-S61T sound bar – was £399, now £299
Same price at a huge number of retailers including: ao.com, Appliances Direct, Boots Kitchen Appliances, Currys PC World, Hughes, JC Campbell Electrics, Littlewoods, PRC Direct, Sonic Direct and direct from Samsung
We like: Great sound, wi-fi, Bluetooth music streaming, Alexa voice control
We don’t like: Could be easier to use, fiddly remote control
This stylish, compact sound bar is available in black (HW-S60T) or white (with the different model number HW-S61T). You can put it under your TV or there’s also a wall mount option using the supplied kit. It sounds great on its own, but you can also beef up the bass with the SWA-W500 subwoofer (sold separately for around £280). Controlling it using Alexa voice commands works well too.
To save even more, you can shave off a further £50 on this sound bar by buying it with selected Samsung TVs – including the £399 Samsung 55-inch TV deal we’ve featured above.
Does this look like the ideal fit for you? Read the full details in our Samsung HW-S60T review for all you need to know, or buy it now at Argos. For the white model, buy it from Argos here. You can actually get it even cheaper for £269 currently too on Amazon Marketplace.
Amazon Echo Show 5 smart display with Alexa – now £40, lowest price ever at Argos
We liked: Alexa responds well to your voice commands, clear and sharp display, lovely touchscreen.
We didn’t like: Sound could be even better, small screen makes more advanced tasks a bit fiddly.
We all know about Alexa speakers, which you can talk to and they’ll provide you with information such as the weather or when the local shop closes. The Echo Show 5 is what’s known as a smart display – basically an Alexa speaker with the addition of a screen. This means that Alexa can give you visual information too – like seeing the steps of a cooking recipe on the screen when you ask it for ideas to cook at dinner. Ask it to play a song and it can display album artwork or lyrics on the screen too, and while idle it can turn into a beautiful photo frame, showing your favourite treasured photos.
Philips AC1214/10 air purifier – was £350, now £250
Same price at: Amazon.co.uk
We like: Performed well for dust, pollen and smoke in our CADR (clean air delivery rate) tests
We don’t like: Rather loud on the maximum setting
It’s not often we’ve seen this great feature-packed air purifier as cheap as this. It has four speed settings, three automatic modes (where the air purifier activates itself when it identifies pollution levels are rising), a night mode, pre-filter (captures large particles), HEPA filter (finer particles) and carbon filter (gases, smells and other volatile organic chemicals).
Wi-fi means you can control it using the Air Matters smartphone app (compatible with both iOS and Android). A dashboard on the device itself shows indoor air quality reports, both in numeric format (a scale from 1 to 12, clean to most polluted) and with a quick-glance coloured ring.
Does this look like exactly what you’re looking for in your home? Consult our definitive Philips Series 1000i AC1214/10 review for all the detail on this air purifier’s full effectiveness, or buy it now from Argos.
Sonos One SL wireless speaker – was £179, now £139
We like: Excellent sound quality, well built, easy to use
We don’t like: Time-consuming to set up and get accustomed to the Sonos Controller app, top of speaker a fingerprint magnet, no Bluetooth
Sonos products are typically very expensive, but the entry-level Sonos One SL multi-room speaker is more affordable. Big discounts on Sonos products are rare, but this deal on the Sonos One SL beats last year’s Black Friday price of £149.
It’s a great opportunity to see all Sonos have to offer, with the brand having one of the most comprehensive offerings around – both in the number of services supported in the Sonos Controller app (may require subscriptions) and in their multi-room support. Sonos multi-room allows you to connect any number of Sonos wireless speakers together in your home, and their sound bars too. You can also connect two Sonos One SL’s together for stereo sound.
Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch – now £130 (£40 off typical price)
We like: Attractive design, comfortable, lightweight, simple to use, lots of features, impressive sleep-tracking, superb battery, nice screen
We don’t like: No on-board GPS, heart-rate monitoring could be more accurate, Alexa integration is a bit of a gimmick
This is a nicely-featured, stylish smartwatch that’s nice and easy to use. It doesn’t have built-in GPS so might not offer enough for serious fitness enthusiasts, but the good screen, battery life and sleep-tracking will win over many.
Argos has an extra special offer that applies to this model too which you can take advantage of – you can save a third on a selected Fitbit accessory when bought with a selected Fitbit smartwatch or tracker. See this offer through the Argos link below.
JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth speaker – was £160, now £100
We like: Superb sound, strong battery life, robust build, can charge your portable devices
We don’t like: A bit heavy
If you’d like a simple Bluetooth speaker with enough oomph to fill large rooms, the JBL Charge 4 is it. You can also connect to your devices using the 3.5mm line-in socket, and it’s fully waterproof (you can submerge it in one metre of water for up to 30 minutes) if you get caught out in the rain.
JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker – now £80, lowest price ever at Argos
We like: Decent sound quality, good battery life, easy to use, waterproof
We don’t like: Sound could be even better
While it won’t quite match it on maximum volume and sound quality, the JBL Flip 5 is smaller and lighter than the JBL Charge 4 making it an ideally-sized portable speaker, large enough for a powerful sound while being not too big and heavy to carry out. It also has a handy carry strap to attach it to your bag or the roof of your tent. But how does it compare with rivals in this competitive market, and is its quality a cut above budget models?
Argos Black Friday deals to avoid
JLab Audio GO Air truly wireless headphones – now £22 (£8 off RRP – one of the cheapest truly wireless headphones on the market)
Look at the most popular pairs of truly wireless headphones like the Apple AirPods or Sony WF-1000XM3 and you’ll notice they tend to cost upwards of £100. So when you see a pair offered for a fraction of that this Black Friday, it’s worth taking a moment to consider if it’s too good to be true. That’s certainly the case for the JLab Audio GO Air, where the results from our independent lab tests and expert listening panel expose its weaknesses. The good news is even at this price there are rare models that impress – see our Great Value headphones.
For full details on the JLab Audio GO Air, see our JLab Audio GO Air review.
Hisense RB327N4WW1 fridge freezer – now £279, Argos’ lowest price ever
Freezers freeze right? Can they really be that bad? Yes they can. You shouldn’t touch this fridge freezer with a bargepole according to our professional lab tests – it does a really bad job at maintaining its temperature in certain rooms.
Find out more in our Hisense RB327N4WW1 review.
Sony WF-XB700 truly wireless headphones – now £60 (£30 off typical price), Argos’ lowest price ever
Just because there’s an attractive-looking deal is on a big brand doesn’t mean it’s a good one. Our professional listening panel weren’t impressed by these. Cheaper truly wireless headphones are a real minefield – you need to choose with great care to get a diamond among the duds. Pick one of our Great Value headphones instead.
Read more about these headphones in our full Sony WF-XB700 review.
Sony WH-CH510 headphones – now £30, Argos’ lowest price ever
If you’re looking for affordable on-ear headphones this Black Friday, these Sony headphones may look like an attractive buy now they’re available for only £30. But the results from our expert audio tests at the Which? lab show there are much better alternatives even at this low price.
Have a look at our expert Sony WH-CH510 review.
Sony HT-S20R sound bar – £199 (£51 off RRP)
Sony are the biggest brand for audio, and they produce some amazing products but plenty of duds too – and this isn’t one of their best. The Sony HT-S20R may seem great in terms of specs, but the sound quality really shows it up. It’s not worth the cheap price, even on offer.
Find out what’s wrong in our definitive Sony HT-S20R review.
