Overall score is a combination of the customer score (overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company) and our own expert analysis. Survey carried out in Feb/March 2026.

What’s Drivalia like?

Drivalia operates UK rental and European rental via different websites. The UK service was built on the bones of Easirent, a budget rental service that Drivalia bought and rebranded in 2021.

Wherever you rent, you will find a budget service, with all the behaviour you would expect from the low-cost end of the market: airport shuttle buses and long queues (it scored just two stars for its collection speed), and vehicles in varying conditions (three stars).

Several older drivers told us they had faced additional age surcharges, and one wasn’t allowed to take the car at all: ‘'When I arrived to collect car I was told that as I was over 80 they could not supply.  It must have been buried in small print somewhere.  I received no refund!’

Customer service was hit and miss too. Some were very satisfied, but one customer reported ‘unpleasant and unhelpful staff’ who ‘kept us waiting for ages’ and ‘refused to accept the excess policy sold by the airline when we booked our car hire’. A regular Drivalia user told us ‘office staff can be excellent, but some not so good’.

Should I book with Drivalia?

Drivalia doesn’t score badly in our survey, but customers report a very inconsistent service. Arnold Clark is a far better option for UK hire, or try Zest Car Rental for a trusted alternative in Europe.
