What's Alamo like?

US specialist Alamo has never received a better score in our survey.

Every element of the booking process was rated five stars, including the all-important 'clarity of final cost' - something no other multinational company achieved. So you can be sure you won't endure a pushy sales pitch for extras at the desk. And if you check in online, you won't even have to go to the desk. Instead you go straight to the car park, choose a vehicle from your category and drive off, which is not only convenient, it makes social distancing during the pandemic a breeze.

With five stars for the fuel policy, the age, condition and mileage of its cars and customer service, it 'gets the basics right'. But Alamo also goes above and beyond. One customer, travelling with an elderly passenger, told Which? that Alamo 'drove us to the departure lounge to avoid the long walk'.

Alamo has scrapped its fees for amendments in light of the pandemic. There’s no charge for cancellations and amendments right up to the collection date for some bookings. For the rest, you can cancel for free up to three days before pick-up.

Yet again Alamo has proved itself a worthy holder of its Which? Recommended Provider title.
