Who is Age UK and Age Co?

Formerly called Age UK, Age Co is a charity that supports older people.

It offers a number of financial products including home insurance, car insurance, travel insurance and equity release.

How Which? rates Age Co's home insurance?

We survey thousands of real home insurance customers to find out how they rate their insurer for customer satisfaction.

We analyse and rate 60 of the most important elements of standard home insurance policies to come up with the overall policy score. We assess how important each individual element is when choosing and using a home insurance policy, and weight it accordingly when calculating our total policy score.

Initially, we score all of the product elements out of five, reflecting how competitive each provider is in this area compared to other insurers. Weightings are then applied to the higher and lower element scores to enhance/reduce their impact on the overall product score.

Age Co's home insurance policy: is it good or bad?

In February 2019, we analysed and rated 60 of the most important elements of standard home insurance policies to come up with the overall policy score.

We assess how important each individual element is when choosing and using a home insurance policy, and weight it accordingly when calculating our total policy score. Each element is given a star rating, out of five.

Overall, 47 out of the 60 elements policy elements we analysed in Age Co's home insurance earned a 3-star rating or higher.

The majority (28) of the features in this policy were given a full 5-star rating, which indicates an above average level of cover.

How did customers rate Age Co's home insurance?

Which?'s rating for customer satisfaction is based on feedback from real customers. The score is made up of a customer's overall satisfaction with the brand, and how likely they are to recommend that brand.

Overall, Age Co's home insurance scored 70% for customer satisfaction, placing it 16th out of the 34 home insurers we looked at.

Customers scored Age Co's 'clarity of policy' and 'dealing with queries' the highest, giving them four stars out of five. The 'transparency of Age Co's charges/penalties' and 'value for money' were scored the lowest by customers and only received three stars.

Does Age Co offer different levels of home insurance cover?

The scores shown in this review relate to Age Co's standard home insurance for over 50s policy. It is possible to increase your level of cover by adding optional extras to your policy.  

For example, you could choose to add one of the following features to your policy, which are not included as standard:

  • Accidental damage
  • Home emergency cover
  • Personal legal protection of up to £100,000

Choosing to add these features on to your policy will come at an added cost, making your policy more expensive than a standard one. 

How much does Age Co's home insurance cost?

Your contents insurance and buildings insurance will be priced based on your own personal circumstances, where you live and the type of property and contents you own.

What is Age Co's claims number?

If you need to make a claim with Age Co home insurance call 0333 005 0353.

According to the Age Co, you'll be asked what happened,  when it happened, and what action you've taken so far.

If you have a home emergency cover claim, call 0144 444 2114 and if you have you have a claim for personal legal protection, call 0333 0050 353.
