How we analyse pet insurance
We analyse and rate 21 elements of cat insurance policies and 24 elements of dog insurance policies - plus how much each pays in vets fees - to come up with the overall policy score.
Different policy elements are enhanced or reduced within the policy score, to reflect the relative importance of each. For example, the amount a policy pays for vets fees and how this money is made available counts for more in the score than the amount provided for holiday cancellation.
To determine the customer score, we surveyed 1,342 Which? members that own a pet insurance policy in November 2021. The Customer Score reflects the overall satisfaction of the brand's customers in our survey and their likelihood of recommending the provider. We also surveyed 784 members that had made a claim within the past five years. The Claims Score reflects the customers' satisfaction and likelihood to recommend their provider based on their most recent claim.
