A Which? Recommended Provider in no fewer than nine holiday categories, Trailfinders has proved time and again that it’s one of the UK’s top package holiday providers.

It stands out because of its commitment to customer care. Almost all its holidays are booked in person or over the phone, which means Trailfinders’ advisers can tailor itineraries to each traveller’s specific needs. More importantly, it offers a safety net: if your holiday is disrupted by flight cancellations, unrest or extreme weather, Trailfinders will take care of you.

If you’re after a straightforward beach holiday with more affordable prices, Jet2Holidays also has excellent customer service at every stage of your trip. It now offers a record number of flights to more than 75 destinations, including crowd-pleasers in Spain and Portugal, but also Morocco, Iceland, Montenegro and more.

Rising holiday costs mean that no provider earned a five-star value rating in our survey of beach/resort holiday providers. But if you book with a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP), you can rest assured that the price won’t go up after you’ve booked. All our WRPs guarantee that they won’t apply surcharges in 2026.

Which is the best package holiday company in the UK?

The best holiday companies for beach and resort getaways, according to our latest survey, are Which? Recommended providers Trailfinders and Kuoni.

Hays Travel was also highly rated, along with WRPs Jet2 Holidays, Olympic Holidays and Beachcomber Tours.

But beach holidays are not the only kind of package – in fact, any type of trip can be a package. City breaks, ski trips and even tours can be sold as package deals, provided you book two elements of the holiday and pay for them in one transaction.

We've rounded up the best and worst providers of all kinds of package holidays below:

Is it cheaper to book holidays as a package?

Which? experts always advise booking a holiday package rather than buying your flights and hotels separately.

You’ll be looked after if anything goes wrong on your trip, and you’ll have peace of mind that your money is protected.

Depending on the destination, package holidays can often also work out cheaper, as holiday companies can pass on exclusive discounts to customers. Read more about this, and the benefits of package holidays, in our guide.

How we rate holiday companies

Which? package holiday expert, Guy Hobbs

Guy Hobbs, Which? package holiday expert, says:

‘Our ratings of tour operators are based on feedback from thousands of people who have been on recent holidays with them – so you know you can trust the scores.

‘They can't be influenced by the companies or by our own personal views. It's this editorial independence that makes Which? unique. Which? Travel has been rating holiday companies for more than 50 years.

Most holidays go off without a hitch, but to truly assess a service, you need to know how your operator reacts when things go wrong. What if your flights are cancelled? Will the company find you a suitable alternative? What if there’s disruption at your destination? Will your holiday company do everything it can to help, or just leave you to fend for yourself?

‘Our survey of 20,000 package holidays captures all these experiences – the good and the bad – helping you to make an informed decision, and to choose a provider you can trust.’
