Best John Lewis Black Friday laptop deals

Acer Spin 311 CP311-3H – was £279, now £199.99

Acer Spin 311 CP311-3H

We like: Very portable, silent operation.
We didn’t like: Cheap construction, poor speakers.

Poor speakers and screen quality aside, there’s a lot to like about this low-cost laptop. This includes its portability (it weighs barely more than a kilo and is extremely compact), as well as its two-in-one design. If you’re looking for flexibility over performance, this could be an option to consider.

Read our Acer Spin 311 CP311-3H review or buy it now from John Lewis.

Acer Chromebook Spin-513 – was £399, now £299

Acer Chromebook Spin 513

We like: lightweight 2-in-1 with a good battery life
We didn’t like: poor screen, disappointing speakers

It might cut a few corners in terms of build quality, and its touchpad leaves something to be desired, but the Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is a highly portable device that manages to offer a lot of versatility for your money. And for £299 (25% off the normal retail price) you can’t go far wrong.

Check out our full Acer Chromebook Spin-513 review for a more in-depth look, or snap it up from John Lewis (two-year guarantee included), Currys or for 99p more at Argos in their Black Friday deals.

Samsung Galaxy Book Go LTE – was £399, now £349

Samsung Galaxy Book Go LTE

We like: portable, Sim card slot for mobile internet
We didn’t like: underwhelming sound and webcam

The Samsung Galaxy Book Go LTE is marketed to those who want to use a laptop on the go. And with its compact dimensions, this model seems to fit the bill. It has a Sim card slot, so if you buy one with a data plan you can hook it up to the internet when you’re away from a wi-fi router.

It has a 14-inch display with Full HD resolution and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 quad-core processor, coupled to a generous 8GB of Ram. It’s fine when handling basic office tasks and web browsing, but it’s not as snappy as rival models.

Have a look at our Samsung Galaxy Book Go Review to see if it meets your needs, or buy it for £349 from John Lewis (including a three-year guarantee), Currys or Very.

Microsoft Surface Book 4 (13.5″ 8 GB) – was £899, now £699

We like: light and fast with excellent speakers.
We didn’t like: not many ports, underwhelming web-cam.

This is a fast, thin and light laptop with a great screen and good battery life. However, a lack of wired connectivity and some extremely capable rivals from the likes of Apple, LG, Dell and Lenovo mean it’s worth weighing up your options.

Read our full Microsoft Surface Book 4 13.5 Inch review to see if it meets your needs, or buy it now from John Lewis.

HP Pavilion 13-bb0003na – was £849.99, now £699.99

HP Pavillion 13bb0003na
We like: good performance, portable, quick fingerprint ID login
We didn’t like: screen lacks contrast and brightness, poor sound

The HP Pavilion 13 13-bb0003na is a good laptop that can handle a range of tasks well. It copes well with everything from basic office tasks and web browsing, to more resource-heavy operations such as photo editing.

However, its sound quality is poor, and in other key areas, we’d expect better from a model normally priced at £849. But with a £150 saving, you might be happy to overlook its shortfalls.

Still undecided? Take a look at our full HP Pavilion 13-bb0003na review, or buy it now for £699.99 from John Lewis (two-year guarantee included).

Samsung Galaxy Pro 360 – was £1,299, now £949

Samsung Galaxy Pro 360

We like: speedy for basic tasks, light
We didn’t like: speakers aren’t the best

This is an impressive and light laptop with a lovely screen. It has a 360-degree screen hinge, so you can flip it around and use it like a tablet or prop it up on your table – useful for watching videos.

Read our full Samsung Galaxy Pro review to see if it meets your needs, or buy it now from John Lewis.

Apple MacBook Air13 (2020) – was £949, now £899

Apple MacBook Air 2020 (M1)

We like: fast, light, great keyboard and touch pad
We didn’t like: not many ports, expensive upgrades

This is a brilliant laptop that has an excellent screen and great speakers, as well as a thin and light design and plenty of speed. Its screen isn’t quite as good as the one found on the MacBook Pro, the battery is smaller and it isn’t quite as fast, but there are plenty of plus points. If your budget will only stretch as far as the MacBook Air, you won’t be disappointed.

We didn’t like: some colour issues in certain scenes

This 43-inch set is one of LG’s cheaper models, but a 4K TV from a leading brand for less than £400 is a rare thing.

Does the low price of this 43-inch TV mean it’s not one of the better models available?

LG OLED65B16LA – was £1,799, now £1,499

We like: excellent remote
We didn’t like: SD could be brighter

This 65 inch TV from LG boasts a detail-packed picture, and the phenomenal contrast makes for fantastic viewing. But the SD could be a little brighter. It has a rich and luxurious sound to match the picture, and has all the features of a high-end TV. It also comes with a magic remote, making menu navigation quicker and easier.

Panasonic TX-48JZ1000B – was £1,299, now £1,079

We don’t like: Some issues with remote design

This model is a high-end option from Panasonic that usually retails for about £1,299, so you’ll save yourself almost 20% if you buy it now.  48-inch OLEDs are a relatively new addition to the market and worth considering if you can’t quite squeeze in a 55-inch TV.
