'Good cover on paper'

Dean Sobers, Which? car insurance expert, says:

Moja’s standard car insurance policy scored 67%, which placed it comfortably in the top 40% of the policies that we rated.

Unfortunately, its underwriter's complaints record meant it wasn’t named a Best Buy.

Looking at its cover, though, it did well in various areas. Customers can earn their full no-claims discount after just four years. With most policies, it takes at least nine years to reach the top of the scale.

It also offers third-party cover for driving other people’s cars in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Third-party cover means the insurer will pay out for claims made against you by other people, but not for damage to the car you’re driving.

On the other hand, the policy contains no medical expenses cover and has a fairly steep cancellation fee of £52.50.

Repairs guarantee

All providers we reviewed guarantee the repairs they arrange. With about half, this guarantee lasts for three to five years. With the other half – Moja among them – the guarantee lasts for as long as you continue to own the car.

Moja Essentials

Moja also offers an Essentials policy that removes some cover elements, including your windows and windscreen, for a lower premium.

We were less impressed with this policy. It scored 59% – placing it in the bottom fifth of our table.

How good is Moja at handling claims?

Moja’s underwriter, Axa, accepted 95-100% of car insurance claims in 2024. This was around the market average (98.8%).

Of customers who claimed, 15% to 20% made a complaint, which is above the average of 6.9%.

How can you save money on Moja car insurance?

You can buy Moja car insurance directly from its website or from the following comparison websites:

  • Compare the Market
  • Confused.com
  • Go.Compare
  • MoneySuperMarket

Insurance policies are generally cheaper to buy through comparison websites than directly online, but it's always worth comparing prices.

Moja does not offer a discount if you buy a policy for more than one car.

The above information is correct as of December 2025.

How does Moja compare with other providers?

With a policy score of 67%, Moja's standard car insurance cover is just behind standard policies from Sheilas' Wheels, Aviva, First Alternative and Co-op Insurance, as well as Tesco's Gold cover – they all scored 68%.

Moja's Essentials cover scored 53%, a little behind Aviva's Zero policy.

Moja: how can I claim?

If you need to make a claim with Moja car insurance, you can call 0330 024 1305 or start a claim online.

Should you buy Moja car insurance?

Possibly, if the quote is competitive. We’re a bit wary of Moja's underwriter’s complaints record, but its standard policy mostly stacks up on paper.
