Swiftcover’s best-performing policy Plus bagged a score of 64%. This was just above the average (62%), but not quite high enough for Best Buy consideration.
Policyholders can reach its highest level of no-claims discount in four years, which is fairly quick compared with other insurers.
It also guarantees repairs it arranges for the remaining time you own the car.
We did notice, however, that if your car is vandalised or hit while parked (meaning there’s no identified culprit for your insurer to track down), you’ll lose your no-claims discount if you make a claim. The policy also lacks medical expenses cover.
Swiftcover’s policy provides £1,500 cover for personal belongings in your car. This is fairly generous compared with other policies, and it also covers belongings such as laptops and tablets, which are often excluded.
Swiftcover’s standard car insurance policy scraped a lacklustre score of 47%, placing it near the bottom of our table.
Swiftcovers’s underwriter Axa accepted 95-100% of car insurance claims in 2024. This was around the average (98.8%) for the market.
Of customers who claimed, 15-20% made a complaint, which is significantly more than average (6.9%).
You can buy Swiftcover policies directly from its website or from the following comparison websites:
In general, car insurance policies are cheaper to buy through comparison websites than directly online, and are priciest when bought over the phone.
Swiftcover doesn't offer a discount if you take out policies for both car and home insurance, and there's no discount if you buy a policy for more than one car.
The above information is correct as of December 2025.
With a policy score of 64%, Swiftcover's premium Plus cover didn't do quite as well as 1st Central's Extra Premier and Extra + Legal, Direct Line's Standard Online cover and the AA's Platinum (all 65%).
Swiftcover's standard policy scored 47%, placing it second to last in our table. Axa's standard cover scored 48%.

Probably not. Plus was respectable on paper, if not exceptional – but Swiftcover's high levels of complaints from claimants would give us pause.
