Privilege is part of UK Insurance Limited, which additionally offers car insurance through its other brands, such as Churchill and Direct Line. Privilege also sells home insurance.
We've reviewed two levels of car insurance cover from Privilege: its Comprehensive Plus cover, as well as its standard Comprehensive policy. We didn't receive feedback from enough customers to rate its levels of service.
The policies cover drivers up to 84 years old.

We gave Privilege’s Comprehensive Plus policy 66% – placing it comfortably above the 62% average and in the top 40% of policies rated.
Despite this, its underwriter’s complaints record meant Privilege didn’t drive away with a Best Buy badge.
Privilege’s policies have 24-hour claims helplines, and it defines cars of up to 24 months old as being ‘new’ for the purposes of its new-car replacement cover. This is a pledge to replace your car with an identical model if it’s stolen or written off, but most insurers define 'new' as a car up to a year old.
We did see that it charges adjustment fees if you make mid-term changes to the policy, from £10 to £27 depending on whether these changes are made online or by phone.
Privilege also charges higher-than-average compulsory excesses.
Privilege’s policy was ahead of many others when it came to the cover you get protecting your in-car entertainment systems.
There’s no claims limit for manufacturer-installed audio systems; for aftermarket systems, there’s a generous limit of £2,000. In-car satnavs are covered to the same limits.
The lower-cost alternative to Comprehensive Plus is Comprehensive. This was very much a mid-table performer in our analysis, with a score of 61%.
Privilege's underwriter UK Insurance Limited accepted 95-100% of car insurance claims in 2024. This was around the average (98.8%) for the market.
Of customers who claimed, 10-15% made a complaint, which is quite a bit above the average (6.9%).

With a policy score of 66%, Privilege's premium Comprehensive Plus cover is just behind Allianz's Silver cover, Direct Line's Premium Online and Comprehensive policies, and also the standard cover from Moja. They all earned 67%.
Its standard Comprehensive cover scored 61%, behind Admiral Essentials, Beam car insurance and 1st Central's Extra cover, as well as two policies from Quote Me Happy – Plus and Plus with Roadside (all 62%).
