Faulty products out of warranty

Many products are sold with a manufacturer’s guarantee (or warranty) – often for a year. Did you know that a manufacturer’s guarantee doesn’t replace your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act? 

If a product is out of warranty and develops a fault, you still have rights against the retailer but you would need to prove that the fault was present at the time of purchase. 

In our podcast we hear about an undercover Which? investigation into retailers who fobbed us off over faulty goods that were out of warranty. 

When we mystery shopped Amazon, Argos, John Lewis and Euronics stores, 56 of the 72 stores investigated were rated poor or very poor by our experts for the advice they gave to our shoppers.

Our lead investigator explains how to make sure you’re not fobbed off by retailers with your faulty goods.
