Need to know

What makes Which? deals different?

Retailers sometimes use misleading ‘was’ and ‘before’ prices to claim their deals are good. Media sites and artificial intelligence (AI) promote deals from retailers – but do they always check/verify them first? We don’t just take retailers’ word for it, we track actual market prices over six months. We share cheapest and average calculations and evaluate products against strict performance benchmarks. So you get good quality at honest prices.

* References to ‘average price' and 'cheapest price' are based on Which? market knowledge and information supplied by our partners. Prices are checked for the six calendar months prior to publication. Not all retailers are included in our checks.

AI news and advice: Which? experts cut through the hype to help you navigate the world of AI

 Best mobile phone deal

Samsung Galaxy S25

Average price in the past six months: £634
Cheapest price in the past six months: £430*

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 12GB of Ram and support for Galaxy AI
  • 6.2-inch display
  • Three rear cameras, including a 50Mp main lens

We like: Advanced camera system

We don't like: Few upgrades from the Galaxy S24

This phone was the standard model in Samsung's flagship range for 2025. It's now been superseded by the Samsung Galaxy S26, which means now's the time to pick up a deal.

Its Galaxy AI software gives you a number of extra features. For example, you can edit people out of photographs, and AI will fill in the gap and remaster shots. The S25's cameras are the same as on the S25+ model, with a 50Mp wide lens, a 10Mp telephoto lens and a 12Mp ultrawide lens on the back and the same 12Mp wide lens on the front-facing selfie camera.

With security updates provided until 2032, you can invest in it for the long haul.

 Best tablet deal

11-inch Apple iPad (2025)

Current price at Apple UK: £429 (Note: the launch price of the iPad was £329 - it's now £429 after Apple hiked its prices in June this year.)

Average price after the June price rise: £423
Cheapest price after the June price rise: £399*

Apple 11-inch iPad (2025)
Buy the Apple iPad 11-inch (2025) from Laptops Direct for £399. Or compare prices from other retailers below:
  • 10.9-inch screen
  • 6GB Ram
  • 128GB of storage

We like: Cheapest iPad since 2022

We didn't like: No Apple Intelligence

The 2025 iPad is sure to tempt Apple fans, launching at almost half the price of an iPad Air and £170 less than the iPad mini. However, the summer Apple price rises have filtered through to retailers and it is hard to find deals as keen as we have seen in the past. But if you want an iPad now, this is the most affordable option.

It has a 10.9-inch screen with 2,360 x 1,640-pixel resolution. It runs on the A16 Bionic chip, which is the same processor found in the iPhone 15.

The iPad has a sleek finish and comes in four colours: blue, pink, silver or yellow. It doesn’t come with Apple Intelligence, though, which is Apple’s latest software features powered by AI.

Best TV deal

LG OLED48C56LB

Average price in the past six months: £1,055
Cheapest price in the past six months: £679*

LG OLED48C56LB television

  • 48-inch 4K TV
  • OLED display
  • Supports HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision formats

We like: HDR is used well

We don't like: Obtuse data collection terms

LG was the first brand to release OLED TVs and its screens are synonymous with quality. The 48-inch OLED48C56LB is on the higher end of LG's range, but this latest deal brings the price way below its usual £1,000-mark. It’s not exactly light on features or advanced technology, with plenty of gaming options available if that's your thing. And you can use it as a PVR. LG TVs are also some of the simplest to use, the magic remote is clearly labelled, with a well thought out layout.

Gone are the days when you need to choose a big TV if you want an OLED. Does quality suffer with smaller screen sizes though? It’s no secret that big TVs tend to score better, but this is a high-end set with plenty of features and hardware to help it secure a Best Buy score.

Check out the full LG OLED48C56LB review to see how this one scored in our tests.

Dyson V15 Detect Absolute

Average price in the past six months: £615

The best price we've found on this Dyson is £469 at jccampbellelectrics.com
  • Bagless and cordless vacuum cleaner
  • 0.9 litre dust capacity
  • Weighs 3.3kg

We like: Innovative features

We don't like: Hard work to push on carpets

The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute cordless vacuum has a green laser to reveal hidden dust, sensors that count and categorise the particles it sucks up, and anti-tangle technology so you'll supposedly never have to untangle a brush bar again.

Other features worth pointing out include a 'Slim Fluffy' soft roller floorhead, 'High Torque' cleaner head and mini turbo tool. It also comes with a two-in-one crevice and upholstery nozzle, a separate crevice tool and a dusting brush.

Best washing machine deal

LG F4Y511GBLN1

Average price in the past six months: £557
Cheapest price in the past six months: £375*

  • Freestanding
  • 10kg cottons capacity
  • White

We like: Frugal water use

We don't like: Some ease of use niggles

This larger 10kg capacity washing machine has a maximum 1,400rpm spin speed and an A energy rating.

There are 12 programs to choose from, plus a steam function that can be used to reduce allergens. Additionally, it uses sensors to weigh the load and adjust washing times accordingly, potentially also saving water and energy.

You can delay the wash end time for up to 19 hours, and also lock the control panel to stop your settings being accidentally changed by knocks or inquisitive little fingers.

Best air fryer deal

Tefal Easy Fry Mega EY855D40

Average price in the past six months: £101
Cheapest price in the past six months: £79*

Tefal Easy Fry Mega EY855D40 air fryer

Buy this Tefal air fryer from Argos for £79.

  • Basket type
  • Single cooking zone
  • 32 x 32 x 40cm (H x W x D)

We like: It's well built

We don't like: Having to register to use the app

Our research shows that this air fryer is often on sale for £140, with regular dips below the £100 price point at most retailers.

Tefal says this single drawer air fryer has a 7.5-litre capacity, serves enough food for eight people, and will fit 1,500g of frozen chips in its drawer. It comes with a slatted tray, and both the tray and drawer are non-stick and can be put in the dishwasher.

It has eight automatic cooking programs: Fries, Meat, Chicken, Shrimp, Fish, Pizza, Vegetables and Dessert. There’s also a manual mode that lets you adjust the temperature from 80-200°C, in 5°C increments.

Best built-in oven deal

Indesit IO 232H B UK

Average price in the past six months: £211
Cheapest price in the past six months: £149*

Indesit IO 232H B UK oven
  • Single electric
  • Black
  • Not self-cleaning

We like: The interior space is flexible

We don't like: The handle is not especially comfortable

This Indesit single built-in electric oven with a grill could be a good choice if your key concern is getting a really low price.

It comes with two wire shelves and a baking tray, and has a minute minder and an ‘eco cleaning’ function that uses steam to gently loosen food grime.

Unlike many other electric ovens, it doesn’t have a fan, but you'll need to read our full review to see if this compromises its cooking capabilities. Another unusual feature of this oven is that it comes with a plug, so you'll avoid the expense of employing an electrician to hardwire it.

To find out if this oven cooks well, even without a fan function, read our full Indesit IO 232H B UK review.

 Best dehumidifier deal

Puremate PM465 20 Litre

Average price in the past six months: £193
Cheapest price in the past six months: £145*

Puremate PM465 20 Litre dehumidifier
  • Type: Refrigerant
  • 52.2 x 34.2 x 24.1cm (H x W x D), 14.3kg

Featuring intelligent smart humidity sensing, Puremate says that the PM465 20 Litre automatically maintains the perfect atmosphere for precise, hands-free control. That should help to remove moisture, banish smells, and create a healthier, more comfortable space.

It has a fairly sleek and portable design, but the 14.3kg weight is on the heavier side compared to other dehumidifiers we've tested.

Find out if it's a Best Buy in our extended Puremate PM465 20 Litre review.

LG DF355FP

Average price in the past six months: £581
Cheapest price in the past six months: £469*

LG DF355FP dishwasher
  • Freestanding
  • Full sized
  • Silver

We like: Quiet running

We don't like: Not the cheapest to run

This full-sized, freestanding dishwasher has has 14 place settings and a spacious cutlery rack, so it’s ideal for medium to large households. Smaller households could also run a half load.

There are nine programs, including main wash (auto), fast (express) and eco cycles, as well as a delicate setting for glassware and an intensive wash for very dirty items. You can also choose to delay the start time by up to 12 hours.

The machine has wi-fi and you can download the LG ThinQ app on Android or iOS to remotely start a cycle from your phone. You can browse and download additional programmes, see status information, such as energy use, and access the Google voice control assistant.

 Best fridge freezer deal

Hisense RB327N4WWE

Average price in the past six months: £340
Cheapest price in the past six months: £265*

Hisense RB327N4WWE fridge freezer
  • Freestanding
  • Frost-free freezer
  • White

We like: Nice and quiet

We don’t like: Vegetable drawer poor at preventing food drying out too quickly

The Hisense RB327N4WWE is a freestanding fridge freezer with a dispenser for cooled water on the front (fed from an internal tank so there’s no need to plumb it into the mains supply).

It’s a fairly basic model that lacks fast-freeze or super-cool modes, and it doesn’t have the open-door alarms you might find on rival models.

We were able to fit 10 supermarket carrier bags of groceries inside. The doors are reversible so you can adapt the way it opens to suit your kitchen floor plan.

Note that are also stainless steel (RB327N4WCE) and black (RB327N4WBE) versions of this fridge freezer thar are exactly the same other than the colour.

Best laptop deal

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 15.6-inch

Average price in the past six months: £657
Cheapest price in the past six months: £399*

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 15.6-inch
  • Intel Core i7 processor
  • 8GB Ram
  • 512GB SSD storage

We like: Fast processor

We don't like: Disappointing webcam

The 15.6-inch Galaxy Book 4 is the latest iteration of Samsung's lower-cost range, coming in underneath the pricier Pro and Ultra models. Yet it still has an eye-catching spec sheet that includes an Intel Core i7 with 10 cores and a roomy 512GB solid-state drive (SSD).

It weighs 1.55kg, which is about average for a 15-inch PC. And it’s slim, too, measuring 20.1mm at its thickest point when the lid is shut. It’s not often that laptops have Ethernet ports these days allowing you to physically connect it to your router, but this Galaxy Book 4 has one.

It's worth noting that we have seen this laptop reduced even further in recent months, but this is still a very good price considering the spec.

Find out how our experts rated its performance and battery life in our Samsung Galaxy Book 4 15.6-inch review.

Ikea Vesteröy firm 904.506.30 mattress

The Vesteröy firm 904.506.30 mattress is currently discounted at Ikea, down to £149 from £199.

  • Double
  • Pocket sprung

We like: It's fairly easy to rotate

We don't like: There was a bit of a synthetic smell when the mattress was first unpacked, but this faded slightly after two weeks.

This double mattress from the Swedish retailer giant is constructed from a 15.5cm pocket-spring core and two layers of standard polyurethane foam of 1.8cm and 0.6cm. It's 19.5cm deep. It has a non-removable polyester-topped cover.

It's supplied rolled up, which makes it easier to move to the room of your choice, and there's a 10-year guarantee.

The Vesteröy mattress is one of the cheaper double mattresses sold by Ikea and you can buy it online or in store. We've tested many Ikea mattresses and found some to be great and others mediocre. How does the Vesteröy firm compare?

Our lab experts put this mattress through its paces and you can read what they found in our Ikea Vesteröy firm 904.506.30 review.

October sale shopping tips

Check the Which? website

Faith Strickland, senior consumer editor at Which?

Which? senior consumer editor, Faith Strickland says:

'As well as telling you which products are best and which are lacking, we’ve also put together a list of the best and worst shops.

'We’ve quizzed thousands of Which? members on their experiences of shopping in some of the country’s best-known stores and websites, as well as with lesser-known brands.

'After crunching the numbers, we can reveal which retailers score highly for product quality, range and value for money. To see the retailers that impressed in our latest shopping survey, head to our extensive guides on the best and worst shops.'

Watch out for sneaky tricks

Some retailers use underhand tactics to pressure you into making a purchase.

These include anchor pricing (when products are on sale more often than they aren’t), pressure selling (‘30 people are viewing this right now!’) and dubious claims about the ‘before’ price of a product.

If you’re unsure how good a deal is, use a tool such as PriceRunner to compare prices across retailers.

Research customer reviews

It’s always a good idea to read reviews before you buy a product, but not all are trustworthy.

Some sellers incentivise people to post fake positive reviews to drown out genuine negative ones. If you’re in any doubt, check our expert guide on how to spot a fake review.

Returning goods

Whether you bought a product in-store or online, you still have rights under the Consumer Contract Regulations.

The regulations give you a 14-day window to return a non-faulty product, starting from the day you receive your goods. Many retailers will give you longer than this, but it's always best to check before you buy.

See our online returns guide for information on the additional rights you have when shopping online.
